“What are you guys doing here today? Everything okay?”

Bambi came back into the kitchen and smiled at me before kissing Goose on the head. She carefully unwrapped the baby from her and held her out for me.

“Uh…”

“Take the baby, Savannah.”

I carefully took the little baby into my arms, just like Hawk showed me at the hospital. She was all dressed in light pinks and golds.

“Which one is this…?”

“Harper.”

I nodded as Bambi took a notebook out of her diaper bag and wrote things down.

I looked down at Harper and smiled. As much as I loved babies, I could never see myself having one. It scared the living shit out of me and I had so much to work on in my personal life.

“So how are things going?”

I came back to reality to see Bambi smiling at me.

“Uh, good. Things are good. Lily got the restraining order approved and we’re waiting on everything else. She’s awesome by the way.”

Bambi nodded her head. “She’s a fucking beast in court. Working on getting her to stay here full time.”

“That would be awesome. The women in the house really like her and I know how much that means.”

Goose nodded toward Bambi and it seemed like they were having a private conversation just in their minds. She laughed, then turned to me.

“Speaking of the house... I have a proposition for you.”

Curious, I nodded for her to go on.

“You have come a long way in such a short amount of time. The women love you and look up to you, Savannah. So... I want to ask you if you would consider running the house. Luna would help, and I would be right here as well. But I need somebody living here or very close by... and I know how close that apartment is.”

I carefully sat down in the chair next to Goose. “Well... I mean, that sounds great, but I can’t commit full time with me working at the diner.”

Goose shrugged. “Moose will let you, don’t worry. And it’s easy. Basically, what you’re doing now.”

Bambi nodded her head in agreement. “With the twins here, I need more help so I can be home for them. Plus, I have some other plans up my sleeve for the house. I want to offer more to these women.”

“Well, our area needs it. I mean, you and this house saved me. If it wasn’t for you, I would either still be with Lloyd or... well, dead. This place offered me hope when I had none left.”

Goose cleared his throat, making me laugh.

“Okay and Goose, the whole club, and Hawk. Like he told me last night, it’s a family and I’m so lucky to be a part of this beautiful hodgepodge of people.”

“That Hawk, huh?” I blushed as Goose winked at me.

“Yeah. He’s been great. I was unsure, but he showed me a different side of him.”

Bambi smiled. “I’m just glad he listened to Thor and I. He’s a good guy, just needed to find that woman.”

The front door opened and Lily came walking through the kitchen, dressed to the nines. She kissed both babies on the head and sat down at the table.

“I’ve got great news. The DA is prosecuting the case. They want to talk to you, Savannah. Things are going to move fast. Are you ready?”

I didn’t know what to say, so I just sat there and nodded my head. Lily took my hand in hers and smiled.
