“No. Lloyd’s friend just threatened me. I’m going to hurt so many people…”
Moose brought me into the office. “Listen to me, baby girl. We’ve dealt with so much shit. And ya know what? We fucking destroy those who threaten the ones we love. So Lloyd better buckle the fuck up. Cause nobody messes with my kids.”
I wrapped my arms around Moose and let the tears flow.
“Thank you. I cannot believe it took me this long to lean on you like this.”
Moose just smiled down at me. “I’ve always had your back, girl. Now dry those tears and let’s get back to work.”
Work had flown by and before I knew it, it was time to close. Hawk was already waiting for me in one booth while Gracie and I cleaned up.
We locked the doors behind us and went our separate ways. Hawk waited until he saw Gracie’s car leaving to start his bike and head toward Hope Hearted.
As we pulled into the driveway, I could see Luna’s black muscle car sitting there. Hawk parked next to it, and we made our way inside.
Luna was waiting in the kitchen with a huge grin on her face.
“About fucking time, bitch. I have amazing news!”
I laughed as I sat down and Hawk stood behind me. Just as Luna was about to talk, Hawk’s cell rang. He frowned and walked out to answer it.
Luna shrugged, then turned back to me. “The apartment is ready! I had some guys in there to do the finishing touches, but it’s ready for you to move in!”
I jumped up and hugged Luna. “That’s great!” Then reality hit me, causing me to sit back down. “I just...don’t have any furniture. And all the money I’ve been saving to pay rent will go toward that…”
Luna just waved her hand in the air. “Sav. The apartment is yours. Take your time moving in. Get one piece at a time. I get it, babe.”
I nodded as Hawk came back into the room, a frown across his face.
“Everything okay?”
He sighed. “Yeah. Gotta get to the clubhouse for some shit. What was the amazing news? Sorry I missed it, baby.”
I softly kissed him on the chest as he pulled me into him.
“The apartment is ready for me to move into. Luna said I could take my time because ya know, no furniture here.”
Luna nodded, and Hawk gazed down at me. “That’s great! Don’t worry too much about the furniture. Everybody will help you out.”
“I don’t want a pity party, Hawk.. I can-”
“I know. You can do this on your own. But you don’t have to. That’s the point. You have friends thatwantto help, Sav. Moose says your family, so that means the club looks after you.”
Tears pricked my eyes as Hawk gently kissed my lips. As he pulled away, he smiled.
“I just am so used to being told what I can and can’t have…”
“I know. So that’s why you’re gonna make a list tonight and show Luna what you want. That way we all know.”
I shook my head and turned to Luna. “I ... I don’t know what I like…”
Luna smiled and took my hand. “Then it looks like we’re having a girl’s night! Hawk, you’re dismissed. Let’s go, girly. We have work to do!”
I laughed as Hawk just shook his head and pulled me back into him. He took my face in his hands and nipped at my bottom lip.
His lips touched mine, and my entire body sparked in response. It was like those first few sparks that flew into the crisp night sky at a bonfire; wild and chasing that summer high.
Hawk’s hands moved from my face, slowly down my body as they wrapped around my waist and grabbed my ass.
