“Are you gonna tell me about your past life?”

I sat up and took another sip of wine. “I can tell you some right now. But other parts are darker and not first date material. I want this night to be fun and go perfect, Sav.”

She reached out and touched my hand. “Then tell me what you’re comfortable with, Hawk.”

I took her hand and raised it to my lips and placed a soft kiss on it. “You’re so fucking perfect.” I took another sip of wine before continuing on. “I was born in New York City to pretty wealthy parents. So I spent my childhood in places like this so my parents could kiss ass to other rich people. Same with my teens and part of my early adulthood. It’s not something I want to go back to.”

The waitress came back to our table. “Are you two ready to order? Anything you would like me to go over?”

I shook my head. “I’ll have the chicken with marsala risotto.”

The waitress turned to Sav. “And you, ma’am?”

“I’ll have the truffle ricotta gnocchi, please.”

We both handed our menus back to the waitress, and she went back to the kitchen to place our order.

“So you prefer this life to fancy dinners and suits?”

I nodded. “Very much so. I was always pretending and this life... I can do whatever the fuck I want. I don’t have to hold back in fear.”

Savannah smiled. “Well, it looks good on you. Though I don’t mind seeing you all dressed up like this. A girl can get used to this.”

She playfully winked as the waitress brought over a basket of rolls. I grabbed the basket, then turned back to Savannah, taking her hand back in mine.

“God, Sav. You are so fucking pretty, you know that?”

Blush crept along her chest and collarbone, reaching up to her cheeks.

“I’ve seen the women you’ve... been with. I look so plain compared to them.”

I shook my head. “Savannah. Those women don’t hold a candle to you. They’re all fake and chasing something they can’t have. None of them are genuine like you. They all have to try so hard to even look an ounce as beautiful as you are when you wake up.”

“Oh gosh, Hawk. You’re making me blush so much.”

We both laughed and took another sip of wine. Savannah looked up at me and smiled.

“Is telling me your real name first date material?”

I chuckled and brushed my leg against hers. “Absolutely. My real name is Wyatt.”

Sav eyed me from across the table. “Hmm. It fits you.”

“I sure as fuck hope it does cause that’s the name my mother gave me.”

She threw her head back and laughed. “Well, I like it...Wyatt.”

Savannah purred my name as she intertwined her fingers with mine. She gave me a sultry look that left me wanting more.

It was like I had unlocked this new personality that Sav had pushed down all these years. I cleared my throat as the waitress brought our food. She smiled and then walked back away.

Savannah and I enjoyed our meal and chattered throughout the night. She was extremely funny and so incredibly smart. I paid the bill and rose first to help Savannah out of her chair.

Placing my hand on the small of her back, I led her back outside where the sun had disappeared, leaving us with the bright moon and stars.

We walked back to my bike, and I turned to Savannah. “What do you want to do now? We can go for a walk, back to Hope Hearted, we can-”

Savannah ran her fingernails down my chest, stopping me in my place.
