Gracie turned and looked back at me.
“She’s busy, and this is my section. Maybe a glass of water and a burger? We have this great-”
Hawk put his hand up to stop Gracie from talking.
“I only want Savannah.”
I sighed and put the salt shakers down. Marching over, I gave an apologetic look to Gracie. She looked between Hawk and me and then walked away.
Turning back to Hawk, I leaned down close and glared at him.
“What the fuck do you want?”
He looked up at me and smiled. “You.”
“Enough, Hawk. What do you want to eat?”
Hawk grinned as he leaned in closer to me.
“You,Savannah.”
I moved away and could feel the blush creeping up my neck. I knew I wasn’t living with Lloyd anymore, but I still needed to be careful. Lloyd was hellbent on bringing the Devil’s Highwaymen down and I couldn’t let him hurt them. Especially if he saw me with Hawk; that would be a firefight if I ever saw one. Shaking my head, I looked back at Hawk.
“You need to stop. Why don’t we get you a burger? You’re drunk off your ass again, huh?”
“Yup. Those women made me do it. God, you’re so fucking pretty, Sav.”
I sighed and headed to the kitchen to put his order in. Avoiding his table until his food was ready, I busied myself with my customers on the other side of the diner.
The bell from the kitchen dinged, and I headed over to grab Hawk’s burger. As I walked over to Hawk, I could see him slip a flask out of his cut and take a sip.
I slammed his burger down on the table and grabbed the flask from his hands.
“Enough alcohol. You can’t even walk straight, Hawk.”
He just shrugged as he grabbed the burger.
“Who drove you here?”
“Myself.”
I sighed and ran my fingers through my hair. “What the fuck, Hawk. You can't drink and drive.”
“It’s all good, baby.”
He grabbed a small bottle out of his cut and poured it into the glass of water. Before he could take a sip, I grabbed the water from him and brought it back to the kitchen.
I walked back over to his table and stood there with my hands on my hips. “Alright. Give me all the alcohol. Now.”
Hawk looked up at me and smiled that lopsided, panty-dropping smile.
“Gonna pat me down for them?”
“What is your problem, Hawk? Don’t you have another girl to annoy?”
He reached out and grabbed my hand. “You make my heart feel so funny, Sav. What the fuck are you doing to me?”
I ripped my hand back as my heart beat faster.
