I jumped out with Moose right on my heels. We ran right past the security guard, who was waving a clipboard at us.

As we rounded the corner, Lilah was standing there with Striker. He was holding her as she cried on his shoulder in her scrubs.

I ran up to them, and Lilah turned with red, puffy eyes from crying.

“Hawk…”

I shook my head and stumbled away from them. Moose caught me and I turned as my salty tears fell down my face.

I collapsed to my knees as I roared out, angry at the universe for taking Sav away from me. I had finally gotten her back when life ripped away the only person I loved.

Bambi appeared at my face as she helped me into a chair, crying alongside me. The waiting room was filled with my brothers and their families. Mama Crawford switched seats with Bambi and held me as I cried. I cried like a fucking baby in her arms, not caring about what I looked like. My woman was gone, fucking gone!

The sun rose when Doctor Tickner came out of the double doors, still wearing his bloody scrubs. Everybody moved near me as Doc came closer and kneeled down to face me.

“Just give it to me straight, Doc. Just fucking tell me so I can end my misery.”

He shook his head and looked up at me with a small smile. “She made it. Your woman is a fighter. Savannah had some pretty intense internal bleeding. It caused a stroke and so she’ll need to be watched for a bit to make sure there’s no lasting damage. But she’s alive, Hawk.”

I cried tears of joy as everybody celebrated around me.

“When can I see her?”

Doc stood up and pointed toward the doors.

“She’s resting right now but you can go see her.”

I rushed through the doors and ran from room to room until I finally found my woman. I froze in the doorway as I looked at her beaten body.

Savannah had white bandages wrapped around her head and many tubes coming out of her arm.

I slowly moved into the darkened room and took the seat next to her bed. I reached out to hold her small, clammy hand.

I let my head fall onto her chest as I finally breathed a sigh of relief to have her back in my arms.

Standing up, I moved the chair closer and propped my feet up on the edge of her bed. There was no way I was leaving my woman ever again.

Taking Sav’s hand back in mine, I leaned my head back and watched all the monitors until sleep finally took hold of me…

Thecreakofthedoor woke me from my restless sleep. I looked up to see one of the nurses coming in. She smiled as she worked to check all of Savannah’s IV’s and monitors.

As she left, the door opened again and Moose came walking in. He stood at the bottom of the bed and just shook his head.

“How’s she doing?”

I shrugged. “Nothing changed since you left. Gonna wait until Doc is in asking him more.”

Moose nodded. “Good, good. We’re gonna find out who did this and when we do, they’re fucking dead.”

“What the fuck even happened?”

He took a seat across from Sav’s bed and sighed.

“There was a fire started at the back and then they threw Molotov cocktails through the front windows, blocking any exit the women had. Few had more sinister things causing the huge explosions. The fuckers waited until all the customers were out before attacking.”

I squeezed Sav’s hand tight. “Fuck. How’s Gracie? I didn’t even check on her…”

“She’s okay. Savannah saved her... if it wasn’t for your woman pushing her down and laying on top of her, Gracie would be dead.”
