“Gotta ask, Brother. What the fuck happened?”

Zane shakes his head, “All I remember is seeing a shadow outside the compound. I confronted them...it was a woman...then there was a sting in my neck and black. I woke up in a basement surrounded by two hooded figures. They beat the shit out of me, but didn’t speak.”

“Thanks, brother. You did good. Now get some rest.”

My phone rings and I step out of the room to answer it. Striker’s name flashes across my screen.

“Goose.”

“Yo, man. Some Nomads saw some shit when they were coming into town. Get your ass to Church ASAP.”

I sigh and look back to Zane’s room. “Got it.”

I hang up the phone and walk back into the room. Bambi is sitting next to Zane, making him laugh about something. She looks up when she hears me come in the room and frowns.

“Everything okay?”

I run my hand over my face, “I don’t know. I’ve gotta head back to the clubhouse. Something is up and Striker called Church.”

Zane growls and tries to sit up. Bambi gently pushes him down. “You stay here, Zane.”

“I’m fine. Let me go.”

I shake my head, “It’s fine, man. I’ll let you know what’s going on when I get back. Just keep an eye on Bambi for me.” I turn to Bambi and pull her into me. “Stay put and don’t leave. Joker’s guys are outside the room and around the hospital. I love you, babe.”

Bambi leans up and gently kisses me. “I love you, Goose. Be careful, okay?”

I nod and look at Zane. “Eyes never leave her. Got it, Prospect?”

He sternly nods back to me. I know he won’t be much help if anybody came in here, but I know it means a lot to him for me to ask. He’s a good fucking kid and I can’t wait for him to get patched in.

I kiss Bambi one last time before heading out the door. I rush down the stairs and right to my bike. The engine revs as I tear out of the parking lot and the wind blows around me. As much as I didn’t want to leave Bambi during times like this, the club needed me.

––––––––

IFINALLY GET TO THEclubhouse and rush inside. Brothers are everywhere and Striker is right in the middle of everything.

I walk over to him and pat him on the back. “Quite a party you got here. Church?”

“Too many. Doing it right here, brother.”

He hops up on the bar and yells, “Listen up! We have too many here to fit in Church so it’s gonna happen right here.”

Everybody turns and looks at him. I spot Maverick making his way through the crowd.

“Those fuckers, The Shadow Raiders, were found in our fucking town! Our Nomad brothers chased them out. Tonight, we fucking burn them to the ground.”

Everybody yells and cheers. I look at Maverick, and he has a serious look on his face. I know this is the right thing to do, but I don’t want to leave Bambi. I finally understand what Maverick and Striker have.

Striker clears his throat and everybody quiets down. “Go and say your goodbyes and be back here in an hour. We fucking strike tonight and strike hard.”

He jumps off the bar and walks straight up the stairs to his apartment. I walk out without saying a word and get right back on my bike. I need to see Bambi before I leave and let Zane know what was happening.

I rush through town going way too fucking fast. I need to just hold my woman before I leave.

Coming up to the Medical Center, I park right up front and stalk up the stairs. Zane’s door is open and I can hear them laughing again.

It warms my cold fucking heart to know Bambi is finally happy and getting the family she deserved.
