“No worries, babe. Striker just called to check in. I told him we’re good here. Lilah is doing okay, but Doc is monitoring her.”
I nod as I fill Goose’s plate with muffins and fruit. Colton and Knox have already cleared their plates, so I let them get up as I clean the kitchen.
The front door opens and Maverick comes in. He looks troubled and I turn to face him.
“Everything okay, Mav?”
Goose turns and gets up from the table.
“No. Bambi, get the kids to the clubhouse ASAP. Mama and Willow are already there. Brother, church as soon as you get there.”
“What’s going on?”
I pack a bag while Goose and Maverick quietly talk to each other.
“It’s not good. I’ll tell you more when we get to the clubhouse. Just hurry, please. I’ll ride in the back, you ride in the front.”
They both grab a boy while I grab Scarlett. The kids all have changes of clothes at the clubhouse for emergencies like this. We all rush outside and get the kids in their car seats.
Goose pulls me in for a quick kiss before getting on his motorcycle. I start the SUV and follow him down the dirt driveway.
Something is wrong and I’m so scared. They only made us stay at the clubhouse when there was danger.
I just hope that nobody I know is hurt again...
Chapter Eleven
Goose
––––––––
IDRIVE AT A DECENTpace in front of the SUV. I want to fucking gun it and get Bambi and the kids to safety, but I know it was better to go at a steady pace.
Maverick is behind them, so we cover them on both ends. I can see the clubhouse gate up ahead, so I push it a little faster.
The prospects open the gate and let us all in. I can see everybody’s family cars there and know that something must be seriously wrong.
