Page 62 of Goose

Willow lets her tears fall as she hugs me tighter. “That’s not going to happen because I will fucking murder anybody who tries to harm you, Bambi. You and Lilah are my best friends and I won’t let anything happen to you.”

The front door opens and I jump in front of Willow and the kids, hand reaching for my gun.

Mama Crawford comes running around the corner with a shotgun and yells, “Who the fuck is in my house?”

Striker, Goose, and Maverick come around the corner with their hands in the air.

“Just us, Mama!”

Striker is first as he nods his head toward the stairs. Mama Crawford nods back, and he heads up.

Maverick and Goose walk toward us as Mama Crawford lowers the shotgun. They both wrap her in a big hug as she laughs.

Goose pulls back first. “Thanks for having our women’s backs, mama.”

Maverick pulls back and sees Willow’s sad face. He rushes over to her and takes her face in his hands.

“Baby girl, what’s going on?”

He walks her over to the couch and I sit down next to her. Willow takes my hand in hers as Maverick kneels in front of her. Goose leans on the arm of the couch, pushing my hair back so he can rub small circles on the back of my neck.

“We need to know what’s going on, Mav. Snake has hurt both of us. We deserve to know.”

He looks up at Goose and both the brother’s sigh. Goose comes around and sits on the coffee table in front of me.

“I’m not gonna sugar coat shit. Tiffani’s body was found nailed to Studio Forty-Eight’s door this morning.”

Willow and I gasp, terror seizing my heart. Maverick sighs again and looks at the both of us.

“There was a note with Bambi’s name on it. We’re moving the timeline up and we’re going to get these fuckers.”

A groan comes from the hallway and we all turn to see Lilah standing there with Striker behind her.

“Why not strike now? They killed one of your girls. They’re threatening two of your old lady’s. What the fuck is taking you so long?”

Striker turns Lilah around to look at him.

“Little Lark. You know it’s not that easy. We’re making sure all our ducks are in a row before striking. You know I don’t want any of my men hurt. I think maybe you need to take a breather...”

A car door slams shut, making us all jump. Lilah looks terrified as she turns to Striker.

“The kids and Mama.”

We all run toward the door to see what’s going on and get the kids and Mama Crawford. As we all tumble out on the porch, we can see Ellie Jo standing there next to a pink VW bug.

I frown, not knowing that she even had a car. She had never said anything to us about owning a car, and she always rode her bike everywhere. I walk down the steps to grab the kids and get them away from her.

Ellie Jo walks up to Goose when Striker steps in front of her.

“Can I help you?”

She smiles and looks around him to Goose.

“I was just looking for Goose. He wasn’t answering my calls, so I got worried.”

I glare at her while she tries to get closer. Striker crosses his arms against his chest with a scowl.

“He’s fine. Where did you get the car?”
