Chapter One
Goose
––––––––
“BAMBI! OPEN THIS FUCKINGdoor right now!” My fists bang on the hot pink door again as I try to get her to open the apartment door. “I just want to talk, woman! Come on!”
I lean in to listen but can’t hear a thing. Growling, I stomp down the stairs and into the back door of the strip club, Studio Forty-Eight. Bambi’s apartment is built above it, so she always has access since she’s the new manager.
I push past the strippers and back to the office door. The star dancer, Tiffani, grabs my arm and pulls me into her.
“Hey there, Goose. Lookin’ for somebody to occupy your spare time?”
Grabbing her hand, I shove her off of me. “No. I need Bambi right now. Shouldn’t you be getting ready or something?”
Tiffani huffs and shrugs her shoulders. “Bambi is busy, like always. Thinks she’s better than us now or some shit. Come on, Goose. Time to move on to bigger and better things.”
She leans up against my chest, rubbing herself on me as I try to move away. “Club business, Tiff. And don’t talk about Bambi like that. She’s earned her way to the top. Go get ready before her or Mad Dog catch you.”
She growls and grabs my wrist roughly in her hand. “I don’t give a shit. I work damn hard to make my way to the top. Don’t I deserve a pat on the back...or ass.”
“Find somebody else. You know the rules about Brothers and dancers, anyway. Now go before Mad Dog comes around that corner.”
I turn and head down the hallway without glancing back. The bright purple door to Bambi’s office sits at the end of the hallway. Everything in this club is purple, blue, and black; Dark, sexy, and sleek.
Flinging the bright purple door open, I step inside the crisp white office. I walk behind the desk and fling open the top drawer. The keys are neatly placed right on the left side. Everything Bambi does is neat and organized.
Grabbing the keys, I slam the drawer shut, stalk out the office door, through the hallway, out the back door, and outside up to Bambi’s apartment.
I climb the wrought iron steps covered in ivy to her small balcony. A small table sits in the corner with more potted plants on it. Decorative lights hang above and a small couch made from pallets sits near the door.
Banging on the door one last time, I yell, “You have five seconds to get your ass to this door or I’m coming in!”
I let a minute go by with no answer before I unlock the door and fling it open. Looking around, Bambi’s apartment is in immaculate condition like always.
The white couch has three large cheetah print pillows across it with three smaller hot pink pillows next to them. A gold and glass coffee table sits in front with magazines and books stacked neatly on top.
Her white and pink dotted armchair sits in the corner with a fuzzy white blanket folded smoothly on the arm. The pink curtains blow in the wind from the open windows, creating an almost movie-like scene.
I walk into her small dining room and around her pink and brown kitchen chairs and note the fresh flowers on the table. Somebody must have bought them, and I plan on asking her exactly who did.
Peeking around the corner, I creep into her bright kitchen. All the cabinets are painted a dusty pink with stark white marble countertops. The appliances are all backed against the wall, perfectly straight. I carefully step around the pink carpet and into the hallway.
I slide open the pocket door to her bathroom and check if she’s in there. Looking around, I could see that it’s empty. The light pink walls and white tiled shower are clean and look to be untouched.
Venturing further down the hallway, I open the next pocket door to her laundry room. It was a large closet that Bambi had converted into her laundry area. All her white towels are folded and stacked on the built-in-shelf on the back wall.
I step back into the hallway and make my way to the last door at the end of the hall. Opening the door, I could see Bambi laying stomach down on her bed.
The beige tufted bed sits in the middle of the room, made neatly with a white duvet. White pillows are at the top with one cheetah print one in the middle. At the bottom of the bed there’s another white fuzzy blanket and a beige bedroom bench. It has two small cheetah print pillows at each end.
A large mirror with lights around it sits on one wall next to her make-up area. The white desk with another large mirror on top is neat and organized. A white and gold chair with another cheetah pillow, all pushed in.
