IGROANED AS I OPENEDmy eyes. My head was pounding, and I was freezing. Slowly opening my eyes, I looked around at my surroundings.
It was dark, but a small light was hanging above me. Turning my head, I could see that bars surrounded me. I was in a fucking cage!
I started to panic but quickly calmed myself down. Panicking wasn’t going to help.
There was a faint dripping noise, and I felt around to find the bottom of the cage was damp. Then I heard the jingle of keys.
The footsteps got closer, and I yelled for help.
“Please! Help me! I don’t want to be here!”
A deep laugh came from behind me, and I whipped around to see my father standing with another man in a motorcycle cut.
The man leaned down and pulled my hair through the cage. “Ain’t nobody gonna help you now. Your daddy sold your ass to us. You’re mine until I’m done with you.”
I screamed and pulled away from him. “NO! You can’t do this! Daddy, how could you?”
He just laughed and bent down to get closer to me. “Because your stupid mother killed herself instead of just doing what I told her to do. She could have saved you from all of this, but no. She would rather leave me with you and have you take this on.”
I spit at him and grabbed his shirt through the bars. “I’ll kill you! You can’t do this to me!”
The man with the cut shook the cage, making me fall back. “It’s done, bitch. Now shut the fuck up.”
I yelled and screamed, but they just kept laughing. “Sawyer will know I’m missing and come looking for me! He won’t let this happen.”
My Daddy turned and glared at me. “If you tell that boy what I did, I will kill him and his entire family while they sleep. Is that what you want, Bambi?”
Tears poured out of my eyes as I wept on the floor of a dingy cage. “No! Please, leave them alone!”
The large man laughed and bent down to look at me. “Looks like we found your weak spot, girl. Do as we say and they live. Is that clear?”
I nodded as they walked away and left me alone in the cage. Tears streamed down my face as I curled up and sobbed. I would get away somehow... even if that meant taking my life just as my mother had.
