Chapter Twenty-Four
Bambi
––––––––
IHEAR DOORS SLAMMINGabove me and then a giant thud. I try to hurry and move my hands faster against the sharp rock.
The loud music stops and the door at the top of the stairs creaks open. I can hear Ellie Jo slowly stepping down them, except this time, there’s another noise I can’t quite figure out.
It sounds like something is scraping or sliding against the wood.
Metal? Plastic? What kind or torture device did she have now?
There’s a loud thump and then I can feel a bright light shining on my face. I hear Ellie Jo bustling around and sit up against the wall so she can’t see my hands.
Suddenly, the burlap bag is off my head, and the spotlight is right in my eyes. I squint my eyes and try to look around.
“Ready for the big show?”
Ellie Jo steps in front of the light so I can see her. She walks away and turns the light across the room.
There on a shitty little bed is Goose strapped down. I scream and Ellie Jo just laughs.
“Stop this! Please, just stop this!”
She just laughs as she sits on the end of the bed near Goose. Patting his leg, he groans and tries to roll over. His hands are tied behind his back and his feet. Ellie Jo just sits there, creepily caressing his leg.
“My plan has all come together! A few road bumps along the way, but I always get what I want.”
She stands and walks over to Goose’s head, cracking open an ammonia inhalant packet under his nose. His head lolls to the side, and he finally opens his eyes to look around.
Immediately, he tries to get up but realizes he’s tied down. Goose roars as he tries to escape the tiny bed.
“Let me the fuck go, Eleanor! This is fucking insane!”
She just laughs as she stands up between us. “Welcome home! Once you accept your new life, you can live upstairs with me. For now, stay down here.”
Goose roars again as Ellie Jo paces around. “You’re fucking dead! Dead woman, do you hear me?”
