Shrugging, I leaned over her and grabbed an old shirt and basketball shorts. “This is your home, Willow. You don’t have to worry anymore. I got you baby girl.”

I changed and turned to see Willow struggling to get changed. She slammed her hand against the wall. “Fuck! I can’t stand on one leg to get these stupid fucking pants on.”

I rushed over to her and helped her to the bed. “Willow, babe. This isn’t going to be easy. But I’m here for you. Just try sitting on the bed to get changed. Once your leg is healed completely, you’ll be back to normal. Here, let me help you out.”

Willow was on the verge of tears when I looked up at her. “I’m sorry. This sucks and I suck.”

“Babe. You do not suck. The situation may suck, but we are going to make the best of it, okay?” She nodded and I helped her take the dress off. I grabbed the yoga pants and carefully slipped them on her. “Do you want your fuzzy socks too?”

Willow laughed and nodded. I grabbed them from the closet and put them on her feet. Grabbing one of my old club shirts, I carefully pulled it over Willow’s head. I helped her lay back in bed and pulled the covers over her.

Orion had already made himself comfortable in the new dog bed and was softly snoring. Willow laughed as she smiled up at me. “Well looks like Orion is one happy pup, huh?”

“He helped pick it out. We went to the store and I let him try all the beds out. He picked this one.”

I made sure all the doors were locked and the alarm system was on before getting into bed with Willow. As I turned down the lights, Willow curled up next to me. I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her in close.

“Everything is going to get better, baby girl. I promise. You will heal, we will get retribution for what The Shadow Raiders did to you, Joker will kill Snake, and you will have everything you’ve ever dreamed of.”

Willow leaned up and placed her lips on mine. “And you will have everything you’ve ever dreamed of as well. You deserve to be happy, Mav.”

I sighed and gently stroked her hair. “I am happy, Willow. As long as I’ve got you by my side, I am the happiest man in the world.”

Chapter Twenty-Nine

Willow

One month had passedsince I came home from the rehab center. My leg was doing so much better and I didn’t need the cane any longer. I still occasionally leaned on Orion when I had a particularly long day.

I still had some flashbacks but was getting better at controlling them. Bambi taught me some grounding techniques she used as well. Her, Lilah, and I were becoming very close and I was so glad to have some friends who understood me.

We were gearing up for Christmas and I was so excited. Lilah and Striker were hosting at their home and it was going to be so much fun. They had hosted Thanksgiving and it was unreal. I had never experienced anything like that before. It was always just me and Grandpa and occasionally Joker. Being around Maverick’s huge family was amazing.

We also had a big Thanksgiving at the clubhouse with all the Brother’s and their families. That was a whole different level of holiday gathering. There were so many people, but it felt perfect.

I was helping Lilah and Bambi plan the Christmas party. They had a big dinner and somebody always dressed up as Santa. Then when the kids went to bed, the party started. Or at least that’s what Bambi told me. Either way, I was so excited to be part of all of it and be a part of their family. I had my small girl gang of Lilah and Bambi by my side. Things couldn't be better right now.
