Chapter Twenty-Eight
Maverick
Ihad helped Willowto the truck after showing her how to lock everything up in her brand new studio. She loved it and I was so glad I could make her dreams come true.
Willow was the best thing that ever happened to me and I wanted to make sure she had all the best things in her life. She opened my eyes to a world outside of the club.
Orion was in the backseat with his fluffy head out the window. His tongue was flapping in the wind and I laughed as he barked at a passing car.
We turned on our street and headed up the driveway. I could tell Willow was nervous so I reached over and took her hand in mine. She gazed over at me and I winked. “You okay, babe?”
She nodded her head but I could tell something was up. Willow sighed and looked out the window. “It’s all just so much. I mean don’t get me wrong, I am so grateful for all of this. I just have never had anybody...spoil me.”
“Babe. It’s not spoiling. We are just showing you how much we appreciate and love you. You have gone through so much in your life. This is the least we could do. You deserve to have your dreams come true.”
We pulled up to our house and I parked the truck and got out. I got to Willow’s side and opened her door to help her out. Orion jumped out and sat next to me, waiting for Willow to climb out of the truck.
I held her hand as she reached for Orion. The harness with the handle on top was working great for her. I tried to hand her the cane but she shook her head.
“No, Mav. I want to try and walk without it. I’ve got Orion to help me. Just stand close in case anything happens.”
She started to take slow steps up to the house. I placed my hand on the small of her back, “Surprise number four is this way, babe.”
I guided her to the side of the house. Right next to our house, I had built a small building. It was made with all the old windows I found, so you could see inside. It was raised a little and had a small ramp from the porch to its front door.
Willow turned to me, “Mav, what is this?” She walked closer and helped her climb up the steps.
“This, my love, is your new art studio here at home. I know you like this side of the house and wanted a place where you could keep everything and not have to constantly move it to the porch.”
I gazed down at her and saw tears in her eyes. She looked up at me and placed her hand on my chest. “Silas...this is...this is absolutely amazing.”
I opened the door and we walked inside. It was simple, but I knew it was perfect for her. An easel was set up in the middle of the room already. On each side, there were small shelves wherever I had to connect a window for the wall.
Willow slowly walked around and looked at every little detail. She turned to me with a huge smile on her face. “Mav, this is like something out of my dreams.”
I shrugged, “And you deserve for all of them to come true. Lilah may have also shown me your Pinterest account. Which led me to search for something called ‘she-sheds’ when I came across one made of old windows. I loved the idea and came up with my own for you. It's raised like a treehouse, but it will give you better views.”
“This is amazing. You are amazing.”
Willow walked toward me and took my face in her hands. I leaned down and our lips crashed together. I grabbed her hips and pulled her closer to me. Willow moaned as I bit down on her bottom lip.
“Ready for surprise number five?”
