Lilah put her hand on Ellie Jo’s arm, “They tried to take Willow today. I was thrown in the middle. Everybody is fine, but I would like for you to come to stay at the Clubhouse tonight. I know you have issues with my brother, but I don’t want anything to happen to you.”
Ellie Jo just nodded her head. Striker then turned to Maverick, “I want Mama, Willow, Lilah, and the boys all there. The Shadow Raiders clearly have no morals. Call Moose and tell him to bring the kids. Looks like we’re all staying there tonight.”
Maverick held me tighter as he pulled out his cellphone and made the call. As I pulled away to talk to Lilah, Striker stopped me. “I am very sorry about everything. He truly cares about you and I should have seen that. We will put a stop to this. You’re safe now, Willow. Welcome to the family.”
Tears started to run down my cheeks and I pulled Striker in for a hug. “I’ve never been part of a real family. Thank you. This means more to me than you’ll ever know.”
Striker laughed as he pulled away. “I think I do know, Willow. You’ll find that there’s lots of Brothers who have a similar story to you.”
Maverick came over and pulled me back into him, “Church tonight, Striker.”
“Got it. Take her home then back to the Clubhouse. See you soon.”
Maverick nodded then looked down at me, “God, baby. I was so fucking scared. I am never letting you out of my sight.”
I nuzzled into his chest while he rubbed my back. It felt so nice to be protected and wanted. “I never want to be out of your sight, Mav.”
“Come on, let’s go get you some clothes packed and then we’ll head to the Clubhouse. Striker will take care of Lilah and the boys. You did so well today. Mama will be proud of you too. Putting yourself in the line of danger to save our family means something, Willow.”
“Doesn’t quite seem that way to Goose...”
Maverick stopped and put his finger under my chin, tilting my eyes up toward his. “Goose can get the fuck over it. If he can’t, then it will be a sad day for my family. But I am not putting my happiness aside to please him any longer.”
He leaned down and gently placed a kiss on my lips. When we got to his motorcycle, Maverick pulled out a helmet of the saddlebag and placed it on my head. “Let’s ride, baby.”
He hopped on and I got behind him, wrapping my arms around his strong body. The smell of leather and woods calmed my soul, making me feel like this is where I was always supposed to be.
Maverick nodded toward Striker and then took off. We flew down the road to his home. Tonight would prove to be interesting, but I knew I would be fine with Maverick by my side.
Chapter Fourteen
Maverick
All the Brothers werehanging around the clubhouse, waiting for Striker to call Church. We were gathered around the bar talking amongst ourselves when Striker came in, Lilah and the boys in tow. Willow was already upstairs in Striker’s old apartment with Mama.
Colton and Knox came running up to me and I bent down to catch them. “Guess who’s upstairs and waiting for you?” They started to clap and I threw my head back and laughed. “Willow AND Nana!”
