Chapter Ten
Maverick
Iwoke up to loud bangingon my door and pulled the pillow over my head. Rolling over I opened my eyes and could see Willow all curled up next to me. She was sleeping so peacefully and I didn’t want to wake her. I carefully snuck out of the bed and put a pair of basketball shorts on.
As I walked out to my living room, I could see my brother through the french doors looking pissed as all hell. I groaned knowing this wasn’t going to be a pleasant visit. When I opened the door, Goose stormed past me and toward the kitchen.
He growled and pointed at the coffee machine, “No fucking coffee?”
I closed the door and stood with my arms crossed. “No, asshole. I was sleeping before you woke me up with the banging on the door. You also need to keep your voice down, Willow is still sleeping.”
Goose scoffed as he plopped himself down on my couch. “Whatever. Pres called Church so you need to get moving. Willow needs to get her ass moving too. Clubhouse is a fucking disaster. She needs to do her goddamn job.”
I growled and pointed to my brother. “Watch your fucking mouth, Sawyer.”
He got up and headed toward the bathroom, stopping to pound on the bedroom door. “Time to get your ass out of bed!”
As he closed the bathroom door, Willow popped out of the bedroom rubbing her eyes, she looked so sleepy yet still incredibly beautiful.
When she saw me standing in the living room, she smiled before heading to the coffee machine. “Everything okay? What’s Goose doing here?”
I walked over and took her in my arms, lightly kissing the top of her head. “Yeah, baby. Just Goose being his normal pleasant self. We got Church so I need to get moving. You okay to get ready and head to the clubhouse by yourself? Want me to call Wrench to come to grab you?”
Willow just nodded as she scooped the coffee grounds out of the canister. “Nah. I got to pick Orion up. I can take your truck. I won’t be too far behind you anyways.”
Goose came out of the bathroom and glared at Willow, then stalked back toward the couch.
Willow didn’t even acknowledge him as she went about getting ready for the day. “Morning, Goose. Do you two want some coffee before you go?”
Goose was silent so I cleared my throat and turned to Willow. “That would be great, babe. Goose, you want some?”
He just glared at us and I knew he had something to say. Finally, he spoke up, “I’m good. Willow, could you give us a few minutes?”
Willow glared at him before turning on the coffee machine and walking toward the bedroom. She didn’t say a word but slammed the bedroom door shut. I knew she was pissed, but I needed to hear what my brother had to say.
As soon as I knew she was away from the door, I turned to my brother.“What the fuck is your problem, Goose?”
“What the fuck is my problem? Let’s talk about what the fuck is going on right now. You’re over here playing house with some girl we don’t know shit about. Playtime is over, Mav. Time to get back to reality and what matters the most; your family. You and Wrench are so hung up on this girl. At least Wrench isn’t sleeping with her too.”
I grabbed a mug and poured some coffee. This was going to be a long conversation and I needed something to wake me up. “I don’t know what your problem is, brother. Why can’t you be happy that I’m with somebody? Wrench sees her as a little sister. Whatever issues you have with your little threesome with Bambi and Ellie Jo ends right there. Enough of this shit. Stop projecting your problems with them onto my situation.”
