Page 23 of Maverick

Goose stood up and looked right at me. “Seems like our innocent little guest isn’t so innocent after all. Willow is attached to the Shadow Raiders. She owes them drug money and is on the run. Looks like she takes after her fucking mother.”

I slammed my fists on the table making it shake. “STOP. I don’t know what your fucking problem is lately! Willow is nothing like her mother. Is she throwing herself at all the guys here? NO. Is she begging for drugs? NO. Has she done anything wrong to you or any brother in this clubhouse? NO.”

Goose narrowed his eyes at me. “Take off your rose-colored fucking glasses, Silas! Stop thinking with your dick and start thinking with your head! She’s bad news. Get her the fuck out of your bed and ship her off.”

Wrench stood up and pointed at Goose, “Watch it, Brother. You don’t know that girl. She isn’t like that.”

Goose threw his head back and laughed. “Oh God, this is fucking gold! Are you boys having a good time with her? Doing a little sharing now?”

Wrench was about to go off when Striker slammed the gavel down on the table. “ENOUGH! Maverick, you need to find out more. Let’s make sure the stories line upright. I’m curious to know her side. Church is fucking over. You boys better sort your shit out.”

I just nodded as I tried to calm down. I headed out the door and froze. Willow was sitting on a barstool, looking fucking gorgeous.

Her hair was up in a messy bun with little wisps of hair falling all over the place. She was wearing tight skinny jeans with white converse and a deep cut white v neck shirt. Her perky breasts were begging for attention and I wanted to be the one to give it to them. She threw her head back laughing and that’s when I noticed the Prospect, Zach, leaning on the bar and putting his hand on Willow’s thigh.

I stormed over and pushed him to the ground.

“What the fuck, Mav?”

I got down and fisted his shirt in my hand. “She’s fucking off-limits and you know that. You should be outside guarding the fucking clubhouse!”

Zach tried to pull away from me, but I was bigger than him. I slammed him into the floor and watched as his head bounced and he screamed out in pain.

“Fucking asshole! So what if I was hitting on her? She ain’t your Old Lady otherwise she wouldn’t be cleaning this shithole. Just admit it, Maverick. Willow doesn’t want your ugly ass. At least the woman has some brains unlike the sluts around here.”

I picked him up and threw him across the room. I walked over to where he was curled up and picked him up by his vest. Slamming him against the wall, I pulled my fist back to hit him when Striker came up behind me yelling.

“Maverick! Enough! Let the kid go!”

I shook my head and slammed my fist into Zach’s face. Blood started to pour down his face as he cried out.

I pulled my fist back to hit him again when I felt a small, delicate hand on my bicep. A small whisper brought me back into reality.

“Maverick.”

I dropped Zach and turned to see Willow standing there like an oak tree in the middle of a big storm; calm and unaltered.

Looking around, I saw that the whole club was watching me with wondering eyes. Without saying a word, I walked out and headed toward my bike.

“Maverick! Wait!” Willow ran up and pulled my arm, turning me around. “What the fuck was that about?”

“Nothing. It’s none of your business. Stay away from the Prospects. Stay away from all the brothers, Willow.”

“Excuse me? You are not my father, boyfriend, or anything else. Don’t tell me what to do.”

I grabbed her arms and pulled her into me. “I’m doing it to fucking save you, Willow.”

She just looked at me with fear in her eyes. “Save me from what?”

“Why don’t you tell me why you’re running from the Shadow Raiders. How much money do you owe them? Were you one of their club sluts like your mother?”

“Fuck you, Maverick.” Willow ripped her arms from me and stalked toward my truck. “You’re a real piece of shit for accusing me of something so disgusting like that.”

She got in the driver’s seat and slammed the door shut. I tried to open it but she had already locked them.

“Open up, Willow!”

She just glared at me and flipped me the middle finger before taking off toward the gate. One of the Prospects opened the gate and she flew down the road. I quickly hopped on my motorcycle and drove after her.
