I just shrugged my shoulders and laughed. “They hear worse from their own father!”
Lilah turned and looked at Striker with her hand on her hip. “I’m going to kill both of you.”
“You love us, baby sis.”
All of a sudden my cell phone rang and I turned to answer it. “Yo, Goose. What’s up?”
“You and Striker need to get to the clubhouse. Tell him to call Church. I got some info about your woman.”
I sighed and hung up. “Goose said you gotta call Church. He’s got info on Willow and needs us there.”
Striker grabbed the twins and carried them back to the Ranger. “Call the prospects to finish up here. Lilah can ride back to the barn with you, then we’ll head out.”
Lilah kissed Striker and the boys then hopped in the Ranger with me. “Let’s get moving then, boys.”
As we drove off toward the barn, Lilah turned to me and sighed. “I like her, Mav. Please don’t hurt her. I know there’s some tension between you two, but I can see the sparks flying too. Goose is on some rampage against all relationships for some reason. Don’t let him fuck this up for you.”
I put my hand on her shoulder and smiled, “Thanks, Lilah. We’ll just have to wait and see. I’m all mixed up and don’t know what to think anymore. She’s a great girl, but something seems off. She’s running from something and just won’t tell me what. I don’t think she’s the problem. Goose seems to think she is.”
“Yeah well like I said, Goose has his own issues and is taking it out on everybody else. He needs to stop projecting his feelings onto his friends and family. But you know how he is, stubborn as all hell.”
“Just like Pop was.”
We both laughed as we came upon the barn. The boys were already out and running around.
“Call if you need anything. Those boys are a handful and you can’t be pushing yourself. Okay?”
Lilah pulled me into a big hug, “Of course. I love you, Silas.”
“Love you too, Lilah.”
Striker came over and Lilah went into his arms. “I gotta go but will be back in a little bit. Call me if you need anything. I mean anything, Little Lark.”
She got on her tippy toes and kissed Striker, putting her hand on his chest. “I got it, babe. Anything at all. Now go and figure this shit out.”
Striker headed toward his motorcycle, “See you there, Mav!”
I made my way down the little path to my house and saw my truck was gone, meaning Willow had already made her way to work, at my clubhouse. I sighed and got on my motorcycle and headed down the driveway.
As I pulled into the gates of the clubhouse, I could see Striker and Goose arguing outside. I parked my bike and headed toward them.
“Yo! What the fuck is going on?”
Goose turned to me, his eyes were full of anger. “I don’t know, Maverick. Why don’t you tell me what the fuck is going on?”
“You called this morning.”
“Don’t play games, Silas! What the fuck happened yesterday to Lilah and the boys?
I stared right back at Goose and pointed my finger at him, “And Willow. Stop treating her like shit. Some guy was staring at them and Orion got a bad feeling from him. Lilah had her gun and called Striker. Orion stood between all four and the guy. He was gone by the time we got there. Nothing more, nothing less.”
He put his hands on his hips and threw his head back with a sarcastic laugh. “Yeah, Mav. That’s all that happened. Let’s get to Church so I can get this over with. You better watch your back, brother. That girl has bad news written all over her.”
Striker pushed his way between us, “Church. Now.”
We all made our way inside. I pushed open the double doors and made my way to my chair. Sinking down in the seat, I rested my head in my hands. This day was about to get bad and I wasn’t prepared for it.
Striker slammed the gavel down when everybody was in their seats. “Alright, brothers. Goose has some news on our guest, Willow.”
