"It's not a bad thing. I promise. I'll show you how good the club is, baby girl." Lilah lifted up on her tippy toes and grabbed my face. Nipping my bottom lip, she slowly placed her mouth on mine, her tongue slipping past my lips. I ran my fingers through her hair, pushing harder against her, not wanting to stop.

She finally pulled away and looked toward the door, "Alright, I got to get to work, babe. I love you more than anything, Striker." I quickly kissed her again before climbing back on my motorcycle.

"I love you, Little Lark." She turned and made her way through the automatic doors as I let my Harley’s engine roar to life.

Chapter 19

Lilah

Everything at workwas going just fine. Doctor Hank had hired extra security; people he personally knew. The sheriff was on notice and had a patrol car driving by every hour. Striker had all four Prospects back at the Medical Center. They were patrolling in pairs this time, so they had support. I felt safe and didn't plan on making any solo trips downstairs. At our morning meeting, I let all the nurses know they were not to go anywhere alone and carry walkie talkies. I couldn't let anybody get hurt on my watch. My plan was impeccable and Doctor Hank was extremely impressed.

"I have to say, my dear, this plan is rock solid. We really should sit down and update our security." Doctor Hank was standing at the nurses’ desk as I came around the corner.

"Thank you, Doctor Hank! We just need to do some tweaking and this place will be better than ever." One of the new nurses came up to me with her arms crossed, an angry scowl on her face.

"This place is fine without all your fancy nonsense. I mean, color coded folders? Come on, that's a little overkill don't you think?" I took a quick second to calm myself before I responded.

"If you have any issues or concerns, we can speak in my office. The sign-up sheet for meetings is right on the door, but I absolutely will not have this discussion in front of, not only other nurses, but our patients." Her face dropped and red spread across her cheeks.

"You know what? FUCK this. I'm not working for some uppity bitch. You think you're so above us all with your fancy degree. But you seem to forget, you came from this same hick town like the rest of us. Just because you're fucking a Devil's Highwaymen member, doesn't mean shit."

I laughed and put my clipboard down, walking closer to the nurse, until I was inches away from her face. "Oh little girl, that's a good laugh. Let's get some things straight. I do have a fancy degree that I worked hard for and paid for by myself, unlike you, who had mommy and daddy pay somebody to help you get a simple certificate. I don't deny the fact that I'm from this town, if anything I'm proud to be from here. And last, not but least, I'm not fucking just any member of the MC; I'm fucking the goddamn President of the MC, who you tried to get in high school, but failed miserably, because he was in love with me. So you can take your high school pity-party grudge and leave. Your employment with this Medical Center is terminated."

I turned and looked at my head nurse, Amanda. "Get security up here to escort her to her car. If you could empty her locker and bring me her things, that would be fantastic." Turning to the nurse who was trying to shrink away, I cleared my throat and pointed at her, "And you will have your last check mailed to you. Don't forget about this conversation, dear, because I would hate to have to repeat this outside of work."

I turned and made way to my office, Doctor Hank in tow. I sank down in my chair and rubbed my temples. “I’m really sorry about that, Doctor Hank. I tried to stay calm and professional but she just brought out my sassy side.”

He just sat down in my corner chair and laughed. “Oh, Lilah dear, that girl has had it coming since I hired her. I was only doing it as a favor to her father. And for your sassy side, that was pretty tame. I’ve seen you way worse my dear!” We both laughed as I leaned back in my chair. Doctor Hank stood and headed toward the door. “I’m just a figurehead, my dear. Make any changes you want. This place is yours and you’re doing an amazing job.” He closed my door and I slammed my head on my desk. Hopefully that was the only nurse who hated me because I was with Striker, but time would only tell.

A knock on the door made me lift my head back up. “Come in!” The door swung open and Bambi and Ellie Jo were standing there, big smiles on their faces.

“Damn girl! I thought you were gonna start swinging! I was about ready to kick these heels off and jump in with you!” Bambi was wearing thigh-high, black velvet boots with fishnet stockings, a little black leather skirt, and a red lace tank top. Her platinum blonde hair was up in a messy ponytail, and her makeup was dark and sexy.

Ellie Jo was the complete opposite next to her. She wore a pale pink, tulle skirt down to her knees, a white blouse and nude pumps. Her hair was neatly curled with a pink ribbon tied in a bow, and her makeup was soft and delicate.

Both girls had a picnic basket in their hands. “I’m not one to fight but I would have slapped that girl silly!” Ellie Jo laughed as she sat the basket down on my desk.
