Before I open the door, I take a second to take a deep breath and look at myself in the mirror. Oh God, I’m too old to feel as giddy as I do. I rub my hand over my face, hoping it will help me school my expression.
But as soon as I open the door, and Lily comes into sight, my face breaks into a smile.
So much for playing it cool.
"Hello there." Lily grins at me and doesn't wait for an invitation before she slips past me into my room.
"Long time no see," I tease her right back. We’ve seen each other the whole day during the last event of the conference – basically a little ‘goodbye’ party with champagne and snacks, before they sent us off.
Afterwards, she went to grab dinner with Felix to celebrate the conference ending properly, before sending him off to his flight back.
"Got your assistant into the taxi?"
"Yes, Felix is on his way back home." She nods and sits down on my couch, shrugging off her high heels and sighing in relief when she kicks them away. "And dare I say I envy him."
She notices the toys charging on the windowsill and jumps up, sauntering over to them with a seductive sway in her hips. Really fucking seductive.
"I love Tokyo. And don't get me wrong, I'm not in a hurry to go home," she continues, but I grow distracted as she starts unbuttoning her blouse and I bite my lip. Before she opens all of them, she reaches for one of the toys and weighs it in her hand, looking at it from all sides before putting it back down. "But damn, I miss my own bed."
She shoots me a glance over her shoulder, and a deep-seated feeling of desire makes my insides grow warm and my brain turn to mush.
"Do you?" I raise my eyebrow at her and walk closer until my chest aligns to her shoulders, taking the toy out of her handand turning her around until she's facing me, only to crowd her against the window.
"As much as I would like an invitation to said bed…" I mumble and continue to unbutton her blouse, carefully pushing the buttons through the holes and grazing her naked skin underneath with my fingertips, making her shudder in anticipation.
"We can't," she interrupts me, and I gulp when I realize that there's a slight twinge of disappointment in her voice.
All I can do is nod. "I know."
But do I? The more I think about it, the less reasons I can find aside from the fact that she’s made up her mind.
“God beware we collaborated. We’d take down the industry,” I try to lighten the mood, but she shakes her head. “Do you really think Millie and Kayla would mind?”
“It’s not about Millie and Kayla. Well, partly it is, but it’s not my main issue.” She bites her lip and my thumbs resting on her hips begin to draw lazy circles on her skin. Her hands wander up my arms until they come to rest at the sides of my throat. "I mean, what secrets could you even get from us? You're the media giant in there." Her fingers start playing with the ends of my hair. "If any, you should be scared of me doing business espionage."
"Oh, now should I?" I raise my eyebrow at her.
A smile spreads on my face as I reach behind her to open up her skirt. It's one of those tight pencil ones with the zipper in the back that I can’t wait to peel her out of.
“But what if I can’t let you go?”
She freezes in my hold, looking down to evade my gaze. “You need to, Adam.” After taking a deep breath, she looks up to meet my eyes. “So, let’s stop talking about it and enjoy tonight. We don’t have a lot of them left together.”
Her hands find the hem of my shirt and bypass it, making their way up my skin and lifting the fabric up until she can pull it right over my head, then reaching for my belt. Within seconds, they fall to the ground and I step out of them.
Meanwhile, I make a mental note to have Barbara comb through my contract. And I’ll find a way to contact Felix and have him look at hers. Anything else, we can face together. Because I meant it. I don’t think I can let her go.
If there's even the slightest chance of this continuing on after Tokyo, I'm not going waste it. You miss one hundred percent of the shots you don’t take and all that, but I’ll never want to look back at our time, knowing I didn’t even try. Just imagining realizing five years down the line that nothing we worried about in the grand scheme of things actually mattered… God, I would bite myself in the ass.
Finally, I have her skirt zipped open, and she shimmies out of her clothes before she turns around again to look at the little collection, while my lips find the side of her neck, making a shiver run through her when I rub my five-o’clock shadow against her skin.
I didn’t like sleeping without her yesterday. But she insisted, telling me that she'd have to start packing and getup early to spend some time with Felix before he would be leaving today. Which is understandable, but I still didn’t like it.
To annoy her, I'd taken her bag from that sex shop we went to, with promises of having everything charged and ready to go for tonight, making sure she knew that I would be eagerly awaiting.
"Let's see what you got me." She sounds curious and like she’s smiling. "I never managed to take a proper look yesterday."
"I’m very sure you're going to like it." I grin and pull her earlobe between my lips. Blindly, she reaches up and tries to push my face away, but I pinch her hips to make her stop. Shooting me a pouting glance, she shimmies her ass against me, then refocuses on the toys.
