“God, I love that so much,” she whispers. “Thank you for rescuing us.”
“Always. From here on out, if you need me, I’m there.”
She pulls away enough to meet my eyes, fluttering her long lashes. “I know. I believe you, and it means the world to me.”
I tilt my head down, and she stretches up, crashing her lips to mine for a slow, emotion-filled kiss.
There’s no one I wouldn’t murder to keep her safe and happy. That says it all. I’m fucking gone for her.

The safe house has a long driveway, and it’s in what I would consider a rural area. From the outside, it has that lived-in or aged feel that could come off as dilapidated, but the interior is clean and well-kept.
It’s two stories, with a spacious back deck that leads to a fountain with a garden around it. Past that is the guest house, or what I’ve heard called a mother-in-law cottage.
The glass of the door that leads to the patio is cool against my fingers as I study the landscape. I’m not sure this place makes a great hideout, especially with the dual glass doors that lead to the deck, but maybe it’s the only thing they could secure on short notice.
Leo’s scent hits me at the same time I spot his reflection. His hands come to rest on my hips and slide around to my middle.
Seeing Shaw at the meeting with Amato was surreal. Knowing he and Leo were there was a huge relief, and I’m still a little dazed.
I shot someone.
A very deserving someone, but still. That feels like a big deal.
“There’s not much to eat outside of fruit and a bread and cheese platter the owner left to tide us over until tomorrow.” Leo soothes his hand over my middle. “But I know you’re still not sold on food, so I thought maybe you’d take a shower with me? Then I can show you the rooms, and we can pick one to close off to turn into a nest.”
My eyes meet his in our reflection, and I nod. “Yeah, I would love that. Are any of the beds king-size? I think we’re going to need that to fit all five of us.”
Leo chuckles. “We’ll check, but at least for tonight, us guys should take turns keeping watch. There’s a low possibility any of Amato’s remaining men or the facility will try to seek retribution, but I’d feel better knowing at least one person is always alert.”
“Agreed,” Valor says, coming into the living room. “And I’m wired. I’m happy to take the first shift.”
“I bloody well need a shower and a toothbrush,” Omen mutters, appearing next to Valor in the reflection.
“You can use one of the other showers and come keep me company while we keep first watch,” Valor says, sending comfort in the bond.
It’s so hard to tell exactly what each feeling means, but I think what’s coming through is reassurance that he accepts Leo and wants me to have one-on-one time with him. It makes my heart thump erratically. It’s a relief to see they’re all making an effort.

Leo’s mouth falls to mine as the warm water cascades over my skin. His fingers dig into my jaw and lower back as he guides the kiss, turning me into a melty puddle of omega. Having hot water to clean up in is nice, but hanging out in the shower almost feels wasteful after being in the facility. It doesn’t make any sense, and at the same time, it feels like I changed fundamentally on some level while I was locked up in that place.
“If the ceiling was a few feet taller, I’d lift you up, toss your knees over my shoulders, and lick your delicious pussy right here,” Leo says, nipping at my lower lip. “It’s unfortunate this place isn’t set up for that kind of thing.”
I grin and tease my finger down his abdomen. “As if you could hold me up like that, but it is a fun little fantasy.”
Leo growls, and his hand leaves my ass and lands again in a stinging slap that makes me groan. “Do you really think your beta is the only one who can toss you over his knee?”
My teeth dig into my lower lip.
I’ve never seen this side of Leo, but I like it.
Like a lot.
A whole bunch.
