“My thoughts exactly!”

With concerted effortand because Soleil yanked up the sheet, which was a fucking shame, Trevor tore his gaze away from her perfectly formed, porcelain-like globes, with their pebbled dusty-rose nipples, and met her wary look.

“Did we?—”

“Did you?—”

“How—”

“What—”

They were both at a loss.

Trevor held up a hand to stop the madness. “Look, we’ve got to find a solution to this mental connection. In the meantime, you have to rein in your fantasies so I can get some sleep.”

“Myfantasies?Mine?”

He held firm to his convictions, not allowing himself to wince at her shrieking tone.

“Yes, and?—”

She threw a pillow. “You delusional bastard!”

“Wha—” A second pillow hit him in the face in rapid succession.

“Don’t think for one minute I conjured that porn-star corset, silky stockings, and those damned ankle-breaking heels! None of which were historically accurate for the time, I might add. And I certainly wouldn’t have created anything so revealing for myself,” she said with heat.

His brows shot up. “Really? Because I remember some filthy things coming out of your mouth.”

Her mortification turned her eyes positively volcanic and her skin lava red.

Trevor had a sudden desire to laugh. To tease her unmercifully. “‘I want you to fuck me until I scream, Trevor,’” he mocked.

“I hate you.”

“So you keep saying.” He moved closer, drawing back the sheet to admire her perfect tits. “But you don’t. Not even a little, Dalli.”

Her skin flushed, starting at those beautiful breasts and working up her neck to rest on her cheekbones.

When her lips parted, likely to blast him with some snarky comment or another, he dipped his thumb into the opening. “I can’t say I was shocked by what you could do with that fabulous mouth, but damn, was I glad.”

Her blush deepened, but she maintained eye contact. Challenging him to act. Goddess, he wanted to, but fantasies and real life were two different beasts.

With a tenderness foreign to him, he brushed her messy chestnut hair from her face, luxuriating in the feel for a brief second or ten. He bent at the waist until their faces were level.

“You were right.”

“Of course I was.” She paused and frowned. “About what?”

“I did conjure the porn-star outfit for you,” he confessed before capturing her mouth with his.

Her fingers tangled in his hair, and she held him prisoner with her fierce grip, like she had in their shared dream. Trev didn’t mind. He appreciated the wildcat side of her. When he pulled back, he wanted to say screw his career, screw taking the high road so she wouldn’t be hurt in the long run, screw worrying about bruised hearts. He wanted to take what she innocently and willingly offered.

But he wouldn’t. There was still a decent guy inside somewhere. He only had to dig deep enough to find him.

“Good night, Dalli.”
