I was game if she was.
SHADOW
The last two weeks were pure hell. Sirena barely ate. She cried herself to sleep. Nothing any of us did helped her.
Even Mirage came to sit with her, holding her through the night.
Nothing.
Finally, Church’s phone dinged at the dinner table.
We all looked over at him. He stared down at the screen for a moment before darkening it.
“It’s time,” he said. “We have the details. We need to go. Tonight.”
I swallowed hard and looked at Sirena, whose eyes were wide.
“We’re going to get her back,” Church said fiercely. “And the baby. Go pack a bag. You’re coming with us.”
Sirena flew out of her seat and ran upstairs.
“Are you sure that’s a good idea?” Sin demanded.
“We’re sure as fuck not leaving her here. The private jet is waiting for us at the airport. I suggest you guys grab your masks, weapons, and a few changes of clothes.” Church pushed away from the table. “Shadow. You in?”
I nodded. “Yes.”
He seemed happy with that answer because he left the room to go upstairs. We’d spent the last two weeks planning this out. We didn’t have a location, but now that we knew, we’d have a better way of solidifying the plans.
“Fucking hell,” Stitches mumbled. “I don’t want to do this shit.”
“For Cady,” Ashes said softly.
Stitches sighed and nodded. “For Cady. For Sirena.”
“Come on.” Sin got up. We followed him, dispersing to our rooms. I quickly packed a bag, grabbed my crucifix, and returned upstairs to find Asylum waiting on the couch, his bag by the door.
“That was fast,” I said.
“Helps I knew it was finally happening.” He tapped his head and sighed. “You ready for this?”
I nodded. “I’d do anything for Sirena.”
“Good.”
The guys came back into the room, all holding bags. Sirena came after them, looking fierce in all black, her bag in her hand.
“Everyone ready?” Church asked.
There was a round of yes before we headed for the door, Ashes grabbing Sirena’s bag from her along the way.
Church locked up, and we went to the garage. I’d not been inside there yet, but I knew the guys all had cars. Ashes even had a motorcycle.
Church opened the garage door, and we stepped inside. He unlocked the door to a larger SUV that wasn’t his Bronco.
“Get in,” he said, climbing behind the wheel of the blacked-out SUV. We all got in, and I took a spot with Sirena in the back, with Asylum next to us.
Sin and Ashes took the middle captain’s seats, and Stitches got in the passenger seat. Church didn’t mess around. We were speeding down the highway in no time.
