“Sounds good, man. Vic, come on.” Devon walked away, Vic following.

It took Shadow a moment to speak, but when he finally did, his voice wavered as he turned to face me. Cradling my face in his hands, he spoke softly.

“I’m sorry he was being rude, cupcake. His personality wavers sometimes.”

I signed quickly for him, letting him know it was fine.

He sighed and brushed his lips against mine before taking my hand once more and leading me through campus. When we arrived at the science corridor, Church emerged from the shadows between the buildings.

I gasped because of how fast he appeared.

He smirked at me without a word and nodded for us to follow him. We did so wordlessly. The moment we were deep in the dark alley, Church tugged me away from Shadow and pushed me against the brick wall, his tongue tangling with mine as he kissed me. “How’s my specter?” he murmured, breaking away far enough to speak.

I stared up into his glimmering green eyes, drinking in his unhinged beauty.
