"It's sport-related through college. I guess we're all Wolves." Frankie had to fill me in on all this. I guess our colleges hated each other. I didn’t go to a ton of the sporting events, but Frankie did drag us to some.
“You guess?” Frankie shakes her head. “What about you? Are you a State Raider too?” She cocks a brow at Graham.
“A loyal Wolf. I converted for my fiancée.”
“Converted?”
“Sure,” Graham keeps going. “Call the dean of University Wolves Monday. I’m sure she’ll tell you.”
“He,” Frankie corrects. “But points for assuming a female.”
“He or she will let you know either way.” He really isn't backing down, but I suppose he never does. Graham has been relentless in his pursuit of me from day one.
“You don’t convert. It doesn’t work that way,” Frankie challenges him. I’m sure she is eating this up. She loves to argue. I enjoy watching her do it. In college it was one of my favorite pastimes.
Only this time I’m not so sure she’ll win. I bet Graham could buy a whole university. Is that a thing? Can you own a university? This is America, so I’m guessing yes. You can buy anything these days.
“Don’t buy it.” I point up at him in warning.
“I take conversion very seriously, and if we’re getting married, I’ll do what I must.” I burst into laughter, making Graham smile. I’m guessing that was what he was after all along.
“Okay, but maybe just build them a library,” I suggest through laughter.
When I look back over at Frankie, I can see the smile of approval that has formed on her face. She likes Graham. Which means a lot coming from her.
“Since you’re newly converted, you’re still on a probationary period for now,” Frankie informs Graham. I can’t help but smile because it’s her way of letting him know that she’s accepting him but also that he better not mess things up.
“He’s a good one,” I tell Frankie, leaning more into my fiancé. As much as I love Graham's new title, I want him to become a husband sooner rather than later. It might not be tomorrow, but it will be soon. “You’ll get to be a bridesmaid at the wedding.”
“Of course I’ll be one. I'll both hate and love it." I wonder if she’ll hate or love my decision to pair her with Kaden. I think it would be a mix of both as well.
“Let me show you off for a few minutes before we take our seats,” Graham says.
“I’ll meet you guys at the table. I bet my stalker is there. He better have a drink for me.” With that, Frankie is off.
“Are you thinking what I am?” Graham asks, having that same mischievous glint in his eyes his mom had. She’d slipped off while Graham and Frankie were going back and forth. I’m pretty sure her goal was accomplished.
“Oh yeah, that will be so fun.” I smirk. “And terrible of us.”
“Not that it will stop us.”
“Of course not,” I agree. A rush of excitement fills me. “Oh gosh.” I stop walking.
"What?" Graham scans the room, searching for a threat. The bodyguards aren't up his ass tonight, but they are lingering around the room.
"This is what I wanted." Tears burn in my eyes.
"Then why do you look like you're about to cry?" A panicked expression takes over Graham's handsome face.
“I didn’t really understand what I was searching for. I thought I did, but I had no freaking clue. But this is it. I’m so damn happy,” I reassure him. “I wanted to get married for all the wrong reasons before. I thought it would make me belong, but it doesn’t work that way. Everyone has to fit in their own way.”
“A good family. One that loves each other and makes sure everyone fits together.” He gets it. Graham always has. He lived it with his own family. I even believe he waited for me because Graham doesn't do anything in halves. He's all in or out, and I was the only girl he ever wanted to beall inwith.
“And I love you, Graham, more than anything in this whole world,” I tell him.
“I love you, too.” Graham leans down, pressing his mouth to mine.
All that truly matters is that I belong to Graham. I trust and believe in him to know that with him, I’ll always be safe in every way. He’ll forever be my family.
