Georgia smiles confidently. “Fifty-five.”

I look at None of your Business. “What say you?”

“We have one hundred and fifty,” she says the wordwelike she already works here. “It should have been two hundred by now, but after a little run in with Senator Barrett, you settled with one hundred and fifty,” she replies as she looks me directly in the eyes.

Fucking Barrett made my father lose fifty air carries. Not many people know that. I can’t help but be impressed that she did her research.

“In fact, Banner Freight Inc., and Mr. Banner are constantly under investigation. Extortion, racketeering, drugs, corruption, and fraud. Am I missing anything?” Her eyes widen. Her hands are now clasped in front of her.

“So, you think I’m a crime boss and you want me to acknowledge it? I should keep Georgia.”

I like irritating None of your Business. She drops her shoulders and turns back to Georgia “Are you capable of dealing with that?” she questions, pointing her finger in my direction.

“Did she call my fucking ass athat?” I look back at Julian. He doesn’t respond, sticking to observing. From the way his nose flares, I can tell he’s slightly exasperated.

Poor Georgia looks back at me and rises slow from the chair. “I think coming to work here may not be a perfect match for me.”

“I don’t think so either,” I murmur, before nodding with a smirk. Thank God, she’s leaving.

“Thank you so much, Georgia,” Julian says gently.

Georgia smiles as my new assistant reaches for her hand and shakes it. “You deserve this,”

Then it happens.None of your Businesssmiles and my world stops. I should be fucking worried. She knows too much, but right now, I’m way too blown away to care.

Her teeth are beautiful and her cheeks dimple when she smiles. I don’t know what the hell is going on, but it needs to stop.

“Have a great day, everyone,” Georgia says before she walks out, leaving the three of us in the office.

I focus on the woman standing before me. “So, because you know some history you think I should hire you?” I try to peel away her layers with my eyes.

“No, it’s because I’m the best. I can fit in all the worlds you present me with.” She folds her arms.

She’s so straight forward. I find it to be refreshing. Julian moves to sit in the far corner. “I find you to be incredibly rude, Ms. Woods,” he interjects.

“She has the traits of an asshole,” I state.

“You think this offends me? I’m not an asshole. I’m more like a hemorrhoid that irritates assholes,” she whispers to herself.

I laugh when I hear it, she used my words against me. “You want to tell Julian what you just said?”

She raises her eyes to me and blushes at the question. “I really need this job. I’m efficient, smart, and a team player.”

“Are you FBI?” I probe, rubbing under my chin.

Not a lot of people know about the Banner family. Unlike other crime riddled families, we like being behind the scenes.

“No, I’m not. You can have my background checked if you like.” She smirks at me.

“You don’t have to tell me that.” I catch Julian’s eyes.

He gets up to approach Ms. Woods. “Let me see your resume.”

She takes it out of her shoulder bag. At least it’s leather, I like that. Julian pulls out his phone and steps outside of my office.

As the door closes, I look at her. “Are you a stalker?”

“Seven billion people in the world and I would choose you to stalk?” She shakes her head, staring at me in disbelief. “Have you seen Chris Hemsworth?”
