Dimitri steps forward and sniffs Jasper.
“I can’t smell shit,”
Dax sniffs in Jasper direction “Neither can I.”
“Really, because he reeks,” I cover my nose with my sleeve.
Jasper looks around “Bro chill. Yes, I found an old baggie in a guitar case, and I didn’t want it to go to waste.”
I remove my sleeve from my nose “You need do something about it. It fucking stinks.”
My stomach rumbles, I really did hate this scent.
“I took a fucking shower, and I washed my hair.”
Dimitri twists his whole body to me “Question, are you feeling nauseous now?”
I want to play it off like I wasn’t “Yes why? You guys put something in my drink?”
Dimitri dips his hands in his jeans and leans to the side to watch Dax.
Dax shoulders begin to shake as he laughs “How’s your appetite?”
“What is this? A little off?” Before I could add more Jasper begins to laugh, he even bends at waist to hold his knees.
“Old boy been putting in that work,” Cole chortles as he takes out his phone and types.
Dax takes out his phone and Dimitri does the same.
My phone buzzes, I dip into my pocket and open it.
The notification shows three deposits of one hundred thousand and fifty thousand respectively. Then another notification comes up for one hundred thousand.
“Why the hell are you all sending me money? I don’t need it?” I gawk at them like they are all crazy.
“It not for you Rhet, it for college. Excuse me.” Dax makes his way across the yard heading to a girl in jeans and a grey halter back.
“Let me help you. Do you know what Couvade is?” Dimitri asks he rests his hand on my shoulder.
“This cryptic bullshit is tiring just tell me.”
Jasper straightens up “You are not getting superpowers. Your wife is just…”
“Pregnant,” I whisper. I look across at Zeeta at the table eating some crackers.
“You figured it out smartass. Couvade is where the father gets the symptoms…” Dimitri states as he takes Gia out of my arms.
I didn’t realize I was walking toward my wife until I reached Zeeta’s side.
“Hi babe,” she rubs my hips.
I look at her and realize that she is glowing. How did I miss that?
“You’re pregnant,” I state. My heart is beating fast.
Zeeta rises slowly from the table “Babe let’s talk about this later.”
She rubs my arms, “I don’t want to talk later. Are you pregnant?”
