This can’t be happening, did Jasper from the GREY just call me? Jasper Remington calledme,Zeeta Mitchell to invite me to a fan review of his new album. I can’t breathe. I had to park my car on the side of the highway.

He said I and two other guests could come. I pinch myself wondering if this is real. I dial Penny and I start my car.

“Sup, baby. How you and my nephew feeling?” Penny asks.

“We are good. I have something to tell you,” I say brimming with excitement.

“I have something to tell you too,” Penny says. Since I think my news may be more exciting, I let her go first.

“Shoot.”

Penny pauses and screams “I’m thinking about becoming a mom by artificial insemination.”

I almost slammed into the breaks, almost causing an accident.

“What?” I ask.

“Yeah, I want to become a mom, its time you know,” she says her voice sounds somber.

My mind is spinning with what Penny just said, “Pen are you sure?”

“You don’t think I can be a mom?” Penny asks

I think about who my friend is. Penny is strong, smart, independent, beautiful and compassionate. “You may be a better mom than I could ever be.”

Penny laughs and sigh, “I found a sperm donor too.”

“Ok friend. I can’t wait to meet my future niece.” I reply.

Penny shifts over the phone “Maybe we can marry them off when they get older.”

I laugh at the thought of that “We don’t even know my child’s sex yet.”

“It’s a boy, I can feel it. Now tell me your news.”

I beat my hands the steering wheel, letting my joy bubble up.

“Um so, like Jasper Remington from the GREY called me.” Even saying it out loud makes me dizzy with happiness.

“Stop playing!” The sound of her fingers moving over her keyboard comes through the line.

“Pen, I’m not even joking. He is having a small listening party for the band and I get to bring two people with me. Tonight, at a new lounge called ICONIC.”

“Hi, I’m your best friend, future god mommy. You must take me! I’m your first choice!” she screams in my ear.

I burst out laughing. “Yes, you are.”

“I can’t believe this is happening. What should I wear? Who’s the other ticket going too?” Pen inquires.

“Dante. I will ask him if he wants to come.”

I stop at a red light.

“How is he doing?” Pen asks.

“He is doing great. Working remotely and going to therapy.”

“That’s awesome,” she comments.
