“Remember, I told you I’d suck the stress out of your body?” he stirs the pot of warm chocolate.
“Yes.”
“You laughed, now I’m going to show you what I meant.”
Show me he does.
RHET
This is the part of the day I love the most, after we make love, and we lie here in bed with the best fucking after glow.
I kiss the top of her head, which rests on my chest, her fingers swirling around my tats.
“What are you thinking about?”
She sighs, puts her chin on my chest, and stares at me.
“If you had three wishes. What would they be?”
I look up at the ceiling watching the fan spin. I have a million wishes, but what are my top three.
“Hmm, I wish my brother were still alive, I wish to find his killers, I wish it was me instead of him somedays.”
She sits up, pulling the sheet to her chest. “What? Rhet, how can you say that?”
I didn’t even notice I said that part out loud.
“Because Trent was everything to my parents. I’m the troublesome spare.”
She touches my face. “Baby, your mom loves the ground you walk on.”
“And she loathes it somedays, fearing I’ll be like my dad.”
“You are nothing like your dad.” She cups my cheeks, her eyes full of emotions.
“My dad is a shitbag and a douche.” I say as I stare up at the rafters in the ceiling.
“Baby you’re not a douche.” She turns my face to look at her.
I chuckle. “Shit, you really are in love. Baby, if it walks, talks, and acts like an asshole. It’s never going to be a whale.”
“You never found the people who hurt your brother?” she asks.
“I found some boys who were taking instructions from someone.” This conversation is making my stomach twist.
“What happened to them?” she asks, pulling away to adjust the sheet around her breasts.
“I took care of them all.” That’s all I want to say.
“How?” She tilts her head to the side.
“Next question.” I’m not in the mood to go down that rabbit hole.
“Would you ever let go and forgive them. Let your brother rest in peace.” She looks at me like there’s hope.
“It’s weird, part of me regrets some of the things I did. Then the other part says fuck forgiveness.” Yeah, we should stop this conversation it’s starting to irritate me.
She leans over to grab her head tie and ties her hair to the top her head.
