His returning smile was sincere. God, he was incredible. So sweet to her. He would only ever be kind like this. “Loud and fun sounds like fun to me. How about I get my girls home?”
Ruth blushed again. My grin was so wide it nearly split my face.
Oh yes. I was definitely showing Davis my appreciation sooner rather than later.
“Please. More, Davis.” My fingers dug into his scalp as his mouth and tongue did wicked things to my body.
He threw me on the bed, slammed the door, and turned on music before he tugged down my jeans, muttered something about needing to get me a real jersey to wear, and then buried his face between my legs.
Heat was building, throbbing, zings of arousal zipping down my spine to my toes.
He shoved two fingers inside of me, and I was done. I clawed at the sheets beneath me with one hand and bit down on my lips, curled toes into the sheets and cried out as my orgasm barreled down on me. It rolled through, spinning me with unending pleasure while Davis worked me through it.
Davis pressed soft kisses to the apex of my thighs, my inner thighs as he climbed up my body to my stomach, my breasts, laving both with his mouth and flicks of his tongue until my overly sensitive body ached with the pain of his attention.
“You’re an animal,” I whispered, cupping his cheek.
His eyes were blown black with desire and seeing that rapturous look on his face forced me to say the one thing that’d been growing in me, only fear keeping it choked down.
“Davis.”
“What is it, Maggie? Mother of my child.” His hand went to my lower stomach. Over the last week, I’d started to swell. Not all day, but as it progressed and more so at night.
Thankfully I’d bought the clothes, but I was still mostly wearing leggings and sweats, so I was comfortable.
Davis had taken to pressing his palm there every day for a few minutes, brushes along my swollen abdomen as he passed me in the kitchen.
Him doing so quelled the last ounce of fear I held.
“I think… I think I might love you.”
His eyes closed, and he pushed up so his forehead rested against mine. “Say it again without the might or the think.”
I laughed against his throat and inhaled the delicious scent of his sweat and body wash. Something cheap, like Old Spice he kept in the locker at the arena. His simplicity made me feel the way I did even more. He was just as likely to order everyday clothes on Amazon as he was to purchase them from Neiman Marcus. He loved Lou’s po’boys, but the couple of rare times he took me out, it was to upscale restaurants.
He was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life he was born and bred from while he didn’t hesitate to enjoy the pleasures of the blessings he’d earned.
Yes. My risk had turned into a winning hand.
“I love you, Davis. So much. Thank you… for being you.”
“It is easy to do all I do for the woman I love,” he replied and sealed away my gasp of surprise with a kiss, his tongue diving inside.
My hands went to his hips to still him, to continue talking, but in truth, there was nothing left to be said.
We loved each other, so we said it with actions and not words.
And the actions Davis used the rest of the night proved every word he said true.
Peeking out from behind the wall, my nerves tied a knot in my stomach. I jumped back before anyone could see me even though I was well hidden.
“Are you okay?” Ruth asked.
“There are more people here than I expected.”
“Really? That’s good, isn’t it?”
It was. In theory. In reality, I wasn’t sure I’d be able to take that stage.
