In the bathroom, I grabbed the countertop, tried to regain my breath but it was useless.

In one night, with one simple session that just barely started our journey, Haley had begun to untwist all the fears and concerns I had.

I stared at myself in the mirror, saw the mess of my hair like I’d just run a marathon, and the pulse beating fast in my throat.

Magnificent. I had told her that. I had meant it.

Pushing off the counter, I ran a hand through a hair before I dug through her small linen closet and found a washcloth.

I warmed it and walked to the bed, smiling. Haley hadn’t moved a single inch since I left her.

Her eyes were closed, her lips parted but curved into a lazy grin.

Her dark brown hair fell to one side, giving me a completely unfettered view of her body and her face.

“You awake?” I asked.

“Yes, sir,” she mumbled, keeping her eyes closed.

“Jensen, please,” I whispered and started to clean myself from her back.

Her eyes popped open and the elation, pure joy and exaltation in them froze my hand.

All the concerns I had, all the fears, everything that kept me from this lifestyle after the disastrous end with Courtney slowly untwisted inside me.

This...thiswas what a sub looked like when they were given what they needed.

I tossed the rag to the floor and pulled Haley to her knees.

Her brows arched with the movement before I pulled her into my arms, my back against her headboard. She curled into me and I slid my hands up and down her back.

“I want you to keep the plug in overnight,” I whispered. She tensed in my arms but I continued without explanation. “I’ll tell you tomorrow when you can remove it, okay?”

She murmured something against my chest. I hadn’t thrown her into subspace, the place where subs can go when they’re so overwhelmed with the endorphins releasing through their body that they enter a trancelike state, but this was still her first time submitting.

Aftercare was just as important as control.

“Do you want to tell me what you liked about what we did?” She shivered and I held her tighter, unwilling to move us under her covers but still needing to warm her. Adrenaline drop could cause a mix of feelings and I didn’t want to mess this up.

“Everything,” she finally admitted, her soft lips brushing against my cheek. “But mostly, I liked that I could trust you with this.”

My chest swelled.

It was what I had needed to hear, the most important thing to hear.

I slid one hand up her neck, entwining it in her hair. I tugged back gently so I could look her in the eyes.

Every ounce of sincerity I felt, I let shine in my eyes and in my smile as I pressed my lips to hers.

It was our first kiss. It was soft and I bit back a groan as her tongue darted out and slid against mine. Compared to what we’d done, the kiss was nothing. It was chaste and sweet but I continued kissing her, let her hesitantly explore my mouth as I tangled her tongue with mine.

We lay like that, for moments or hours, until she relaxed in my hold signaling it was time to go.

As much as I loved our time together, I still had to keep lines drawn.

I uncurled her from my arms, laid her down in bed, adjusted her pillows and covered her.

She barely moved, so exhausted and peaceful.

I brushed my lips across her cheek. “Sleep well, Haley. And call me when you wake up in the morning, okay? I’ll lock up on my way out.”

A line formed between her eyebrows. “Okay, Jensen.”

I stepped back, gathered my things quickly but quietly, and by the time I left her room, she was snoring softly. Peacefully.
