Hours later, it hadn’t. In fact, it felt like it was getting worse. Blaine held the cup of warmed spirit close to his chest, trying his best not to look in Wayden’s direction. They were gathered outside around a bonfire waiting for Green’s cub to be born. Apparently, it was the pack’s tradition to throw a party while they waited for their new member to be born. They didn’t care that there was a cold breeze in the air, or that they were surrounded by snow. They were happy to welcome the cub into the world.

“Are you okay?” Owen asked, as he handed him a plate packed full of meat.

“I’m fine,” Blaine said, taking a sip of the spirit. He scrunched his face, not really liking the taste of it, but it would do. He didn’t want to be sober or be there. But he couldn’t ask Wayden if he could leave. Even if Wayden agreed that Blaine could leave, where would he go?

“Are you sure? You don’t look like someone whose just had his heat. And not only that. You spent your heat with that,” Owen said pointing at Wayden. “He’s fucking hot. I’m sure you’re not going to forget your time with him any time soon.”

Nope, not any time soon. He was going to remember his first time for the rest of his life, because that was the last time he was going to let an alpha touch him.

Not again, Blaine thought, drinking down the spirit. He got to his feet and handed Owen the plate of food.

“Where are you going?” Owen asked.

“I need more spirit,” Blaine said, walking away. He made his way to the other side of the fire where they had a mini cooking station set up. Blaine helped himself to another glass of spirit, drank it down and then poured himself another.

How many glasses of the foul spirit would he have to drink for him to get drunk? he asked himself as he finished the glass. He turned to pour himself another, but Wayden appeared out of nowhere and gripped his arm. Blaine snatched it away. And poured himself another glass.

“Hey, slow down,” Wayden said. “This is not those fancy spirits they have in the capital. It’s going to hit you hard.”

Blaine silently growled. He wanted to tell Wayden to get lost. He knew what he was fucking doing. “Thanks for the advice, Professor,” Blaine said instead, and walked around him. Wayden grasped his arm and pulled him back. “What?” Blaine snapped.

“Hey,” Wayden growled back. He dragged him closer… too close. Blaine could smell the alpha’s enticing scent. It thickened all around him, making Blaine dizzy. “I might not be your alpha, but you’re not going to talk to me like that.” For a second, Wayden’s voice went dark, and his fingers tightened on Blaine’s arm.

Fuck. The alpha was so close yet so far away. Blaine swallowed, taking a step back. He didn’t want to argue with Wayden, not when he was feeling like… like he would snap any minute. Or do something he would regret. Like kiss him. Blaine’s eyes fell on Wayden’s lips. Tingles ran up and down Blaine’s spine.

This won’t do, Blaine thought, taking a sip of his drink. How was he going to share a bed with the alpha now?

“Blaine, are you okay?” Wayden tried to reach for him again.

“I’m sorry. It won’t happen again,” he said, walking away. He returned to where Owen was and continued to drink. By the time the cub was born, Blaine could barely stand straight. The fucking world was spinning.

“Stand straight, they’re presenting the cub to the pack,” Owen said, wrapping an arm around Blaine’s shoulders to keep him from falling. Green and his alpha walked to the middle of the pack. Their cub was wrapped in the blanket the omegas made. It was beautiful – all fluffy and thick.

“Oh… that’s beatipull,” Blaine said unintelligibly.

Owen laughed. “What? You’re sloshed. How much did you drink?”

Blaine lifted his fingers to count, but his fingers didn’t work. He shook out his arms, but that only made him sway in place.

“Whoa… maybe we shouldn’t make sudden movements. You’re going to fall.”

“What… yees… right. You’rrree light,” Blaine said, folding his arms around his chest. And tried to focus on what was happening in front of them. It was really beautiful. Both alpha and omega seemed over the moon to have their cub meet their pack. They were so happy. Blaine stared at them, feeling weird inside.

Damn, this was killing his buzz.

“I can’t wait to have a cub of my own, to stand in front of everyone to present him or her. Green must be so proud,” Owen said wistfully. Tears prickled Blaine’s eyes and he didn’t even know why.

Fuck. Maybe he was too drunk for this mushy stuff. He was about to fucking cry. He never cried. Ever.

“Owen, I’m going to…”

“What? No. Let me find your alpha. The paths are slippery.”

“Professor Douche? I don’t need him,” Blaine said irritably. He turned to leave… in his mind he was going to walk up the path like a normal person, but then his legs refused to follow the rest of his body, and he was… falling.

“Oh,” Blaine exclaimed as arms came around him. He looked up to stare into Wayden’s concerned eyes. Blaine felt all tingly inside. The arousal he’d fought all day came back with a vengeance.

Fuck. Why was he everywhere? Blaine took a step away from Wayden. And tried his best to walk up the path to the shuttle. On his drunk legs, it wasn’t easy.
