Blaine covered his face with his hands. He froze when Wayden’s scent filled his nose. The alpha’s scent still lingered on his skin.

Blaine moaned as the moment Wayden had smoothed his thumb over his skin flashed through his mind. For a minute there, it had felt like he’d been in Wayden’s arms – their bodies intertwined in the most intimate way possible, but he’d only been holding his wrist.

What would it feel like to have Wayden fuck him? Blaine asked himself. His body flamed all over again. He moaned in frustration as the needy feeling intensified. Blaine sighed and turned to his side. He should just accept Wayden’s offer. He stared at the door the alpha had walked through earlier.

Just go and tell him you need him, Blaine told himself. But he didn’t move an inch.

He hurt me. Blaine wiped away a stray tear. Wayden’s rejection had hurt more than Blaine had thought. And then Wayden had to go and make it worse by acting all funny, only to confess that he was jealous of Escala.

What the hell?

Blaine didn’t know what to make of Wayden’s behaviour. Not that it mattered. Blaine closed his eyes. He only wanted Waydenfor his heat and nothing more. After his heat, he would have time to get his tea from his mother and he wouldn’t go into heat again.

Ever.

Blaine turned to face the wall and slowly fell asleep. In the morning, he woke up alone. His eyes drifted to Wayden’s pillow as he wondered if he’d come back to bed last night. He probably hadn’t. From what Blaine had noticed, the alpha was a little obsessed with work. Blaine should be happy about that. It meant that Wayden would find the answers that Deltta Kohle was looking for, and all omegas would be free.

I’ll be free, Blaine thought with a smile. He stretched his arms over his head. He hissed as his hole throbbed so hard he bowed off the bed.

Oh shit.

Blaine gripped the pillow and waited for the feeling to subside. He knew his heat was coming but fuck, he’d never thought it would be so intense.

Shit. Why hadn’t the tea worked this time? This had never happened before.

The overwhelming feeling subsided and his body went back to normal. But Blaine still felt warm and tender down there. He wouldn’t be surprised if he went into heat tonight.

Blaine bit the inside of his mouth as his eyes fell on Wayden’s pillow again. He’d offered to help him. Blaine’s cheeks heated.

Fuck. How was he going to do this?

It’s just sex. You can do it, he told himself. How complicated could it be?

Blaine got out of bed and made his way to the washroom. He rubbed his hands over his arms nervously. If only Holi could see him now, he would laugh at him. Blaine was all big talk and no substance – in this case, no experience.

Everything is going to be okay, he told himself as he washed up, got dressed and went to the main hut to get something to eat.

He was going to have sex for the first time… so what? Blaine’s eyes scanned the large room for Wayden as he walked in.

They needed to talk about… Blaine blushed at the thought. But Wayden wasn’t there. Escala neither. The alpha was usually seated in front of the fire pit, with his pack surrounding him. This morning, only the omegas sat there. The alphas and betas were gone too.

Where was everyone? Blaine asked himself. As if he’d heard his silent question, Owen turned towards him from chatting with the other omegas. He got up and walked towards him. The omega’s nose twitched as he got closer. Blaine cheeks turned hotter.

Fuck, he hated this part even more. Now, everyone knew he was starting his heat, and he would need an alpha, they would be fucking non-stop for the coming three to four days. The whole thing was weird and stupid. Who thought going into heat was a good idea?

“Are you in heat?” Owen asked the obvious.

“I uhhh… not yet.” Blaine rubbed his hands together feeling self-conscious. “Where is everyone?”

“Our alpha decided to go hunting since it didn’t snow last night,” Owen said, giving Blaine a speculative look. “Didn’t your alpha know that you’ll be in heat today?”

“He’s not my alpha,” Blaine said weakly.

Owen’s eyes narrowed before he shrugged. “You two are weird. You should prepare for your heat just in case he doesn’t come back on time. They might be a while.”

A while? Blaine stared at him in horror. “Are they not coming back today. It’s freezing out there.”

“Calm down.” Owen laughed. “For someone who claims he doesn’t have an alpha, you sure worry about him. Don’t worry. They’ll be back soon.”
