He shoved more food into his mouth, but a piece of something went the wrong way. Blaine started to choke, making embarrassing sounds right there in front of everyone.

“Shit,” he heard Wayden say next to him. And the next thing he knew he was wrapped in the alpha’s arms – his back to Wayden’s chest as he tried to save him. The shock of Wayden's warmth seeping into his body made Blaine feel dizzy. Or maybe it was because Blaine couldn’t breathe. Why wasn’t he breathing?

“Breathe, baby, you’re okay,” Wayden said, holding him tight. Blaine took a breath and then another. “Are you okay?” Wayden turned him around to look at him.

Embarrassed, Blaine nodded.

“Here. You’re shaking.” Wayden took off his coat and draped it over Blaine’s shoulders. “You’re freezing. We need to get you warm clothes.”

We? Blaine stared up at Wayden. Did he mean he and him… together?

Before Blaine could figure it out, Owen rushed to them. “Are you alright?” Owen asked, fussing over Blaine. Owen dragged him away from Wayden and brought him to the fire pit. “Sit. I’ll bring you some water.”

I’m fine,Blaine wanted to say, but Owen was already rushing away. The other omegas came and crowded him, fussing over him like he was a cub. Maybe he was one, because he had been behaving like one lately.

It was all Professor Douche’s fault. When Blaine was next to him it was like his brain couldn’t work. He couldn’t make rational decisions, he became… weird.

Owen came back with a cup of water and Blaine gulped it down.

“Are you sure you’re, okay?” Owen asked. “Maybe we should go and see the healer.”

“No. I’m fine,” Blaine said, embarrassed. He was causing so much drama. Blaine was glad when everyone went back to what they had been doing, the incident forgotten. He sat in front of the fire, warming himself.

A few minutes later, Wayden came to him. Blaine tried hard not to react to the alpha but failed miserably. His cheeks turned warm, and his heart thudded hard in his chest. The attraction was too strong.

What was he going to do?

“Come,” Wayden said, walking to the front door. Blaine silently followed him out of the hut. He slipped a few times on the frozen path. Wayden turned around to give him a concerned look.

“I’m fine,” Blaine growled, Wayden’s concerned look irritating him to no end. “Where are we going anyway?” he asked, wrapping Wayden’s coat around him. Had it got colder or was it just him?

Wayden shook his head and continued to walk ahead of him. Blaine slipped again and this time he almost broke his neck as he tried everything in his power not to fall. Arms and legs went every which way as he tried to grip air.

“Dammit, Blaine,” Wayden grumbled as he caught him before he hit the ground. “You’re going to kill yourself before you ask for help, aren’t you?”

“I…”

“Shut up,” Wayden snapped, picking him up. Blaine bit the inside of his mouth, swallowing the protest on the tip of his tongue. Wayden walked down the path to a hut further away than the rest. The hut had whimsical decorations outside that made it look like the vintage stores Blaine had seen in the capital. He’d always wanted to go into one of them, but he’d never had enough credit. It felt strange that he was finally at one of those stores, but he wasn’t alone. He was with an alpha – not just any alpha but Professor Douche. Life was sure full of surprises.

Wayden placed him down on his feet just inside the door. The smell of leather, wool and fur filled Blaine’s nose. He looked around the large room. Coats, pants and other clothing items were folded neatly on shelves around the room. “Escala said we can find warm clothes here. Choose whatever you like.”

Blaine walked to the nearest shelf and ran his hands over the woollen pants. They were soft, made of the finest wool.

Wow. He would like something like this. But the price was steep, and it wasn’t in credit. Blaine picked up another pair of pants. The price was wool.

“They don’t use credit here. I don’t own any of these things. I can’t…”

“Don’t worry about that. I’ll take care of it. You need warm clothes. You can’t go around wearing that,” Wayden interrupted him, pointing at Blaine’s clothes. Blaine opened his mouth to saysomething, but Wayden shook his head. “Stop arguing with me or you’ll make it worse.”

“Make what worse,” Blaine asked. “This is the second time you said I’m making things worse when I haven’t even done anything.”

“You think you haven’t done anything?” Wayden scoffed. “You’re adorable.”

“I’m not adorable,” Blaine snapped.

“I didn’t mean that as a compliment.” Wayden turned and stared at the beta staring at them. Blaine blushed. He hadn’t noticed the beta standing there.

Blaine’s blush deepened.
