No. Stop it, Blaine snapped at himself. He rubbed his arms as he rushed into the shuttle, not stopping to think as he opened Wayden’s bedroom door. He stopped in his tracks when he realised that the room wasn’t as empty as he’d thought. Wayden was still in bed. And he was… Blaine’s eyes dropped to the naked alpha on the bed with his hand wrapped around his straining cock.
Oh shit…
“Blaine,” Wayden gasped, staring at him, eyes wide.
Blaine turned and ran out of the room before Wayden could say anything. Dazed, he made his way out of the shuttle and stared at the white landscape, not sure where to go. He couldn’t exactly go for a walk. It was freezing. He had only one option.
Blaine tried to not think of what he’d just seen as he made his way to the main hut. He walked inside and made his way to the fire. Other omegas were already seated in front of the fire, chatting. As he got closer, Blaine could see that they were making something. Pieces of cloth, yarn, hide and other things Blaine couldn’t identify sat in baskets in front of them.
“What are you guys making?” Blaine asked.
Owen, one of the omegas Blaine had met yesterday, handed him a piece of cloth and a needle.
“Join us,” he said, patting the space next to him for Blaine to sit. “We’re making a blanket for Green’s cub. He’s going to be born soon.”
“Green?” Blaine asked, sitting down. He stared at the needle. He hadn’t seen one of those in a while. They didn’t use these anymore. They had bots that fixed their clothes now.
“Oh, you haven’t met him yet. He couldn’t come out because of the snow,” Owen said. “His alpha is busy clearing a path in front of their hut so he can move easily. He’ll be here soon. You can meet him then.”
“You said the cub is coming soon?” Was Green going to have the cub here, without medical assistance? Were they crazy? Blaine bit into his bottom lip, not daring to speak his thoughts out loud. They probably had their own way of doing things. But Blaine couldn’t help think that it was scary.
“Yes,” Owen said excitedly. “Green can’t wait. We haven’t had a winter cub in a while. It’s exciting.”
Now that he said it, Blaine hadn’t seen a lot of young cubs here. Not like in Luka’s pack.
“Why?” Blaine asked. “I heard that omegas are happiest when they have cubs.”
Owen laughed. “You don’t sound like you believe that.”
“I don’t.”
Owen laughed again. “You’ll like it once you have one.”
“I doubt that,” Blaine said. “And you? Do you have one?”
“Not yet, but I will once I get bonded. I thought you were bonded since you…” Owen trailed off as his eyes dropped to Blaine’s shoulder.
Blaine blushed, covering his neck with his free hand. “That’s not what you think. And you haven’t answered my question,” Blaine said, changing the subject. The damn mark wasn’t fading fast enough for his liking. It was fucking embarrassing. “Why haven’t you had a winter cub?”
“I thought it was obvious,” Owen said, looking around him. The other omegas stared at Blaine as if he should know the answer. Blaine sighed, already getting bored. He hated guessing games. “A lot of cubs are made in winter,” Owen said after a few minutes. The group laughed as if Owen had said something profound.
Blaine laughed along with them, not wanting to seem weird. They chatted on, their conversation turning from cubs to eligible alphas and betas in the pack. The omegas squealed and blushed as they described their crushes.
Speaking of alphas. The door to the hut opened a few minutes later, and Blaine knew who had walked in without looking. The back of his neck prickled in awareness, and he could feel a change in the air. Blaine’s heart beat faster, and he couldn’t fucking breathe properly. Wayden’s naked body lying on the bed flashed through Blaine’s mind. Blaine closed his eyes, shoving the image away, along with the needy feeling that pulled on his cock.
Shit. Why was this happening? Professor Douche shouldn’t affect him. Blaine shouldn’t fucking feel anything. He had drunk his tea a few minutes ago. His body should be as cold as the fucking snow falling outside. Blaine stared at the cloth in his hand as heat scorched his back.
Minutes ticked by as he waited for something… anything. But nothing happened. What? Had he imagined the alpha? He was sure he’d felt him come in. Blaine’s nose twitched as he sniffed the air for Wayden’s scent. He almost moaned in pleasure as Wayden’s scent filled his lungs.
He was here, Blaine thought, feeling weird as the alpha’s presence somehow comforted him.
Shit. He must be going crazy.
Blaine shook his head and focused on what the omegas were doing. He tried to follow along, sewing the piece of cloth into the larger one they were creating, but his curiosity got the better of him. He kind of wanted to know what Wayden was doing. And he wanted to see him again… catch a glimpse of him.
The feeling was so strong that Blaine couldn’t resist. A tingle cascaded down Blaine’s back as he looked over his shoulder, just to see where Wayden was. Blaine gasped when he found Wayden staring at him.
He quickly looked away, a shiver going through him. Why had he looked at him like that? Blaine resisted the urge to look at the alpha again.
