He just had to bring his body under control. It didn’t help that he had to share a bed with Wayden. Blaine had thought it would be easy, since the tea prevented him from feeling anything, but the minute Wayden got into bed it was like a switch was turned on inside him.

Blaine shivered, just thinking about it.

Dammit, no.

He had to find a way to make his body stop, even if it meant that he had to drink the tea every day. Blaine dusted the snow off his clothes as he walked into the hut. A blazing fire in one corner beckoned. Blaine wanted nothing more than to go there and soak up the warmth. But he had no seconds to waste. He had to deal with his stupid body. He walked deeper into the hut, heading towards the cooking station.

“I need hot water.” Blaine rushed to the first omega he came across.

“It’s over there,” the omega pointed him to the other side of the room, where a large pot hissed as it released steam. “We’re making tea for everyone; you can help yourself.”

“Thank you,” Blaine said, making his way there. He got himself a cup of hot water and moved to the counter. He opened the sachet and almost cried when he saw what was left. It wasn’t enough for him to drink a cup every day.

As things stood, it would be gone by the end of the week.

Shit. He stared at the dried leaves hopelessly. Tears prickled Blaine’s eyes, and he felt like crying.

Fuck… fuck… fuck… What was he going to do? Blaine asked himself, panicking.

No… no… he could fix this. He just needed to ask his mom to send him more. There was no need to worry, Blaine told himself as he stuffed his hand in his pocket to take out his connector.

He paused, as a thought hit him. How long would it take for a delivery bot to arrive? Did the pack even accept delivery bots? They were so isolated. They had an airway, so surely…

Blaine flagged down the same omega he’d asked for hot water as he passed by him. “Do you guys accept delivery bots?” he asked.

Blaine’s hope was crushed when the omega shook his head. “The service doesn’t reach here. Besides, we have everything we need here,” the omega said.

Not everything! Blaine wanted to scream. He held it in, forcing a smile. The omega walked away, leaving Blaine alone to deal with his problem.

Shit. This might be a big fucking problem.

Maybe Wayden wouldn’t stay there for long. They could be on their way soon, before his heat started. He still had some tea left. It usually took eight doses a month for the herbal tea to stop his heat completely. Since he’d upped his dose, he should be fine.

It was going to be okay, Blaine told himself as he stared at the dark leaves sinking to the bottom of the cup and turning the water a reddish brown.

Nothing was going to happen. It was not like he liked Professor Douche. Blaine would never let himself go there with the alpha. Never.

If he went into heat, then…

No. This will be enough. I won’t go into heat, Blaine told himself with conviction. He couldn’t even remember the last time he’d gone into heat. It would probably take time for his body to detox and for everything to start working properly. Hopefully, they’d be somewhere civilised, and his mother could send the tea by then.

Blaine picked up the cup and then put it down immediately, his conviction wavering.

Maybe he should let it steep for a while longer. The stronger the tea, the better. Blaine watched the omegas move around the cooking station, getting breakfast ready for everyone. A few betas and alphas were there to help them – doing the heavy lifting. Everyone knew what needed to be done and they did it. They moved in a harmonious way that was intriguing.

The pack clearly had something they didn’t have out there. What was it? Blaine asked himself. He picked up his cup of tea and sipped it slowly, as if that would help with his problem.

The hut slowly filled with the other pack members looking for something warm to drink. Blaine watched them, fascinated by how they interacted with each other. Even when Escala, their alpha arrived, they remained somewhat the same. The only change was that they all seemed to gravitate towards their alpha. They took turns going to him. Escala gave each pack member his full attention. They talked, laughed and Escala would rub his hands along their arms as if he was trying to keep them warm. But Blaine was sure that wasn’t the case. They were all dressed warmly. The fur coats they wore were enough to keep them warm.

What was Escala doing? Blaine stared at them for a while, and then jolted as he remembered something. Shouldn’t he be recording this? They were here to observe the pack after all. Blaine drained his tea and jumped to his feet. He ran out of the hut and into the cold.

Shit, he groaned as the cold wrapped around him and his shoes filled with snow. His flimsy clothes were no match for the weather. By the time they left he’d have frozen to death. That’s if his toes didn’t fall off first.

Shit… shit… shit… shit… he mumbled to himself as he ran – well, tried to run – in the knee-deep snow. When he reached the shuttle, all he could think about was getting into bed to warm himself. The thought of sinking into the bed and wrapping himself in Wayden’s scent caused goosebumps to erupt on his skin. Blaine’s stomach fluttered in anticipation. He couldn’t wait to be enveloped by Wayden’s scent.

Dammit. What was wrong with him? He should fight this need. It was weird and stupid.

But it felt so good.
