The hair on the back of my neck stood up. They radiated menace and they were hungry. Really, really hungry. Taking a deep breath, I waved my hand at them. “Hey! A little help here.”

Presto! I was surrounded by Katanic boogeymen. “She needsCalcinite’s hearts like now.”

“Who did this?”A gravelly voice asked.

“Opve.”

Whoosh! They were gone.

Typical males or where they females? Who knew? Ask them for a little help and poof, they were gone. I looked around and spotted Zosia. “Over here.”

She hurried over to me and her tentacles stood out in horror. “Females and children are precious to our kind. I cannot understand how Opve could do this. I promise you Bozi, they will pay for what they have done.”Zosia’slong tongue held out two funky looking chunks of raw meat.

Bozi gobbled them down. Within seconds, the gaping wounds on her body began to close. “The Rodan put Nii and her child in a stasis chamber.”

“Don’t worry, I’ll find her,”I assured her.

Derek teleported back with a bucket full of fish. “I couldn’t find a bigger container.”

“It will do until Qa’a, and Adan bring more food. Help your mate search the stasis chambers.”

Derek clamped his arm to his chest. “As you command.”He walked over to me and wrapped his arms around me. “When I get Mallox in my crosshairs, he’s one dead Rodan.”

“Get in line.” I placed a gentle psychic kiss on his mouth.“We make a damn good team.”

“That we do.” Not caring who was watching, Derek took my mouth. It wasn’t a gentle kiss. It was a full-on conquest. Like he wanted the entire galaxy to know I was his.

“This is not the time to consummate your relationship War Commander,” Zarek grumbled. “I need to know who are imprisoned in the stasis chambers.”

Derek reluctantly raised his head.“Yes, my lord.”

“I’ve counted over fifteen chambers. You think General Zan is in one?”

“Let’s go find out.”

Chapter Eighteen

A cold fury burned in Derek’s eyes. “That bastard gave us the slip again.”

“He did, but this time we have the locations of three of his labs. We also freed General Zan, Major Eyken, Nii, and the other doulas from the stasis chambers,” I reminded him.

“But not Ina or Nii’s baby.”

The awful reality of what that monster was doing to them filled me with horror and a burning need for vengeance. “I know, but we will find them, no matter what it takes.”

You’re damn right we will. Zarek is sending my nephew Caleb to check the Cygnus site.”

“Good. If he is anything like you, he’ll kick Mallox’s butt.”

“If Caleb is successful, he’ll earn War Commander status.”

Zosia motioned to me.

“Be right back.” I hurried over to her. “Any good news?”

“Some. Opve had promised to make Arya his Empress if she helped him destroy Qa’a and kept me from giving birth. She agreed and disabled the security systems allowing the males to enter the breeding sanctuary. When she discovered what Mallox planned to do with the babies, she tried to stop them. Opve doused her with sleeping gas and gave her to Mallox.”
