“What the hell is going on?”Poppa Jacob demanded.

“Zosia ate Derek, and her digestive enzymes are making both of us a bit horny. But don’t worry, it’ll wear off soon. I hope,”I replied and sent a silent prayer to the Goddess to give me the strength to resist Derek.

“You hope?” There was a short, disbelieving silence before Poppa Jacob bawled,“Zosia ate Derek?”

“Yeah, but she puked him back up.”

Papi Sten enquired, “How horny?”

“We can discuss this matter at another time.”Derek’s helmet reformed.

Papi Sten drawled,“Avoiding the issue War Commander?”

Desperate to change the subject, I asked,“You don’t think Baelish will attack Zosia and Adan, do you?”

“No. He’s not a fool,” Derek spat.

His tone one of barely contained rage, Poppa Jacob snapped, “We have transferred all of Mallox’s files to the ship.”

“Were you able to locateJabbercon the mercenary?”I asked quickly.

Poppa Jacob growled.“Of course. The fool thinks he has cleverly hidden his ship on the ocean floor. The adamantium in his hull is like a blinking neon sign. What is even more interesting is his communication logs shows Jabbercon has been in direct contact with both Baelish and Mallox.”

“We need to have a long talk with Baelish,”Papi Sten added.

Derek handed Defne another eyeball.“I agree. The Askole has a million-dollar bounty on him, and half of the galaxy’s enforcers are gunning for him.”

“I won’t be surprised if Baelish tries to take the Shebu for himself,”I said, smiling as Derek performed a sleight of hand and magically produced a finger for Defne. Thank the Goddess he was back in control. He was probably embarrassed as hell for coming onto me.

A scream echoed down the hallway.

Defne’s tentacles tangled in my hair and her yellow eyes got bigger and bigger.

I stroked Kiri’s shaking branches.The Katanics are hunting, father. Be careful.”

“A starving Katanic is to be avoided at all costs,”Papi Sten remarked.

Derek interjected, “Give me your location and I’ll teleport you back to the shuttle.”

“Copy. Mallox’s lab is hidden behind the west wall of the mess hall,”Poppa Jacob said.

“I’ll collect some more eyeballs and meet you back at the ship.” Derek teleported away.

I looked up at Kiri. “I know you don’t like teleporting but it’s the only way out of here.”

More screams sounded.

“We go. Go now,”Kiri urged.

Chapter Eleven

The second we appeared in the shuttle it felt like tiny ants were dancing across my mind. I pulled my laser pistol. “Stay behind me kids.”

Kiri and Defne slid down my back.

“I know you’re here. Show yourself.”My eyes narrowed as a behemoth wearing a horned helmet and pieced together armor stepped into view. Another Bjarke bounty hunter was the last thing we needed. “Who are you? Who are you hunting?”
