“Where are you Mayhem?”Derek’s voice held an edge of annoyance.

“I’m feeding the kid or would you rather I let her snack on you?”

“Lose the attitude.”

“When Kiri is finished eating, please come to the brig,”Derek said politely.

“See, that wasn’t so hard now, was it?”I smiled when Derek severed the link. If I was bratty enough, he wouldn’t want anything to do with me.

“Go daddy?”

“Yep. Where did your daddy find you?”

Kiri’s branches shook.“Bad place. Zosia hurt.”

“Zosia?”

“Friend.”

“Don’t worry, we’re going to rescue Zosia and destroy the bad place.”

“Me help?”

“Yes, you can.”I walked into the brig and gave Derek my Debbie Sunshine smile.

A muscle twitched in his cheek. “Canute is being stubborn about telling us where the auction is going to be held.”

“Oh, and you plan on threatening Kiri to get him to cooperate?”

“Yes.”

“Your plan sucks,” I replied.

“You got a better one?”

“I do.” I walked over to Canute’s cell. “I know you found Kiri in a Rodan lab. She also has Askole DNA. Are you missing one of your females?”

“You think you are so clever.”

I flinched at the fury in Canute’s eyes. I guess that was a yes.“You didn’t find your female at the lab, did you?”

His tentacles drooped.

“My father is a computer expert. Take us to the lab and he will search their computers for information on your missing female. You saw the monsters the Rodan scientists are creating. Do you want your missing female to end up like that? Don’t you want to stop them? Once they get their hands on the Shebu, billions will die. Will you help us?”

“The Rui’s name is BamBam,” Canute replied.

Ballock’s balls. Time to try another tactic. I stroked Kiri’s leaves.“What are you going to do when the Rodan want their experiment back?”

Canute’s smile would send most sensible people running for their lives.“I released their creations on them. They are no longer a threat.”

“Where is the lab? It might lead us to where the Rodan are hiding,”Derek demanded.

“I destroyed the lab.”
