“It’s one of the things I liked about being here,” I confide.

“So,” he says, “We’re on the same page about you being my old lady and us finding a bigger place, somewhere with a backyard so the kids can burn off their endless energy.”

“Yeah, the kids all need their own rooms, and I want them to be in a nice, safe neighborhood.”

“Look at us, acting like real grown-ups instead of teenagers who can’t stop groping each other long enough to sort out a life plan.”

I cover my mouth to keep from waking the baby when I laugh. “I absolutely love your sense of humor, babe.”

Before he can answer, his phone buzzes, and he reluctantly pulls it out of his pocket and reads a text message. When he looks up, I see excitement shining in his eyes. “Got a message from Zen. He’s got an address on Silas Harper. Your dad too.”

“Are you going to pay him a visit? If so, I can go with you. Maybe he’ll listen if I tell him I’m never coming back.”

Tusk reaches out to cup the side of my face and says, “Absolutely fucking not. You’re exhausted. I want you to put the baby down in her crib and get some shut-eye.”

I begin to panic, “What about your boys? It’s your weekend. I can’t just go to sleep and leave them to fend for themselves while you head to Utah. Plus, if Gina finds out you left them with me, she’s going to get mad.”

He caresses my cheek. “You need your rest. I’m gonna drop them off at their grandparents’ house. They always keep them overnight when something comes up in my life.”

“But…”

“But nothing,” he tells me. “Rest, and I’ll be back as soon as I can. There is food in the fridge, and under no circumstances are you to open the door while I’m gone. I’ll send a couple of prospects to cover the outside of the building. They’ll text you when they’re in place. If you need anything at all, trust only the prospects. Got it?”

“Yeah, I just don’t want the boys to think I don’t want them.”

He snorts a laugh. “I’ll explain that it’s my decision, not yours. They’ll understand.”

He leans over and kisses me before rolling off the bed and leaving the room.

I smile down at Victoria, who wakes up when he moves the bed. She gurgles, blowing a little bubble. It’s adorable, and Tusk is going to regret not seeing it. “Well, sweetness. It looks like it’s just you and me.”

Chapter 21

Tusk

It doesn’t take me long to get to the clubhouse. I send a couple of prospects to my apartment complex and head to Siege’s office. Zen has already called the club officers together. “Glad you got here so quickly. We can get started planning.”

Tank is all geared up and says, “It’s about fucking time we got intel on the asshole who tried to abduct Brittany.”

Rider joins in, “Yeah, I say we remove his cock. He won’t need a wife if he can’t make God-fearing kids with her.”

I’m still kinda pissed at these two. I point to Rider first and say, “You’re the fucker who said Britt was playing mind games and being attention-seeking when she turned up missing.” Then I point at Tank and say, “And you said she was just being fuckin’ playful and would come home after a few days. Remember that fucking shit?”

Tex’s voice drifts from the doorway. “And the whole time, she was being stalked by religious fanatics.”

Rider just stares at me with an accusing expression on his face. “You hold a fuckin’ grudge like no one I’ve ever seen.”

Tank shoves his hands into his front pockets. “Alright, I’ll be the first to admit that we were wrong. But what else were we expected to think? You know how Brittany was. But we’re here now and willing to kick the shit out of religious bigots. So, we get points for that, right?”

“Yeah, let’s let go of that shit and get straight to the ass kickin’,” I tell them. I want to defend my woman, but I know part of what he’s saying is true. Brittany would be the first to admit that her past history with the MC wasn’t all smooth sailing.

Rigs chimes in, “I thought I was gonna have to start handing out demerits for ungentlemanly conduct for a moment there.”

Siege slams down the gavel he uses in church to get our attention. “What the fuck are demerits? We don’t have anything like that in the Savage Legion. That’s just some stupid shit you pulled out of your ass for the occasion.”

I snort a laugh, in a good mood because we’re finally going to get this fucker. “Plus, do you fuckin’ see any gentlemen in this room, ‘cause I sure as hell don’t.”

Siege throws his arm out and points at me. “Bingo. We’re not fucking gentlemen. We’re bikers who are about to deal savage justice to the man who messed with one of our women. Let’s fucking settle down and figure this shit out.”
