“Nothing you need to worry about.” He sat down and took a sip of water.

I frowned and continued to eat. Kyler ate his salad, but he was distracted. The phone call wasn’t good news.

I sat my fork down.

“Is something wrong with your food?” He asked.

“No.”

“Then why aren’t you eating.” He sat his fork down.

“Nothing.”

“Rayna, if something is bothering you, I need you to tell me.” He scooted his chair back. “Come here.”

I stood and sat on Kyler’s lap. “How can I help if you won’t tell me what’s wrong?”

“Exactly.” I looked up into his eyes. Recognition flashed across his face.

“You are very clever, little one.” Kyle kissed the top of my nose. He tilted me back and kissed me with a loud smack on my lips. It made my insides flip.

“Go finish your lunch.” He tipped me off his lap.

I went back to my seat and ate.

“That call was from Agent Stanley.” Kyler rubbed his beard. “He called to basically tell me there had been no sighting of Albert since the night of the party. If he’s still in the country, he’s lying low, and if he left the country, he didn’t do it by any legit means, so we can’t track him.”

“Maybe he’s forgotten all about us and has moved on to ruin someone else’s life.” I hadn’t thought about him or what had almost happened to me. “Although I hope we catch him, because I don’t want him to hurt anyone else, either.”

“I agree.” He absently ate a piece of chicken. “I just hate to keep you cooped up here all the time. Theres so much I want to show my little girl, but right now it’s not safe.”

“I understand. I don’t mind being cooped up here.” I waved a hand in the air. “There are worse placed to hide out in than the penthouse in the most amazing hotel in all of Vegas.”

“You, little girl.” Kyler leaned over. “Have a great attitude.” He kissed me and leaned back.

He took out a stapled set of documents and moved them next to me.

“So, this is a contract that all the couples who are members of Quad IV sign. We offer them templates and let them edit as necessary. I would like for you to read it on your own and then we can talk about any questions you have.”

I nodded and skimmed over the first page.

“The fifth page, has a list of where we can designate our limits.”

I nodded and turned to page five. My face immediately grew hot. I skimmed down the list. “Some of these things I don’t even know what they are.”

“Okay.” Kyler chuckled. “Ask me and I’ll try my best to define them.”

“Or, I could google them.” I looked around, wondering where I’d left my phone.

“Probably not a good idea.” Kyler flipped the page. “For some of these, once you see them, you can’t unsee them.”

“Good point.” I turned to the last page. It was titled rules with blank lines.

“Page seven is where we talk about rules, limits specific to our relationship, and preferences.” Kyler tilted his head. It was the part that most concerned me, and he knew it.

“What if my preferences don’t align with yours?” I ask the question we both were wondering.

Kyler’s former littles were just that, little. Now we were going to put it all down on paper. It had me fidgeting in my seat and doubting everything. I return to my salad and shove a big bite in my mouth. I took my time chewing.
