“I’m not fucking her.” I shut the laptop. “Jesus, she’s been under my roof for less than twenty-four hours.”

“But you like her.” He stood up and paced the length of my office. “I’ve seen you like this before, but not in a long time.”

“Yeah, I like her. What’s not to like about her?” I stood up. “She’s beautiful and intelligent and a bit of a brat?— “

“And naïve, inexperienced, and completely out of her depth.” He raised his hands.

“When is naivety a negative trait?” I flopped back down. “We’ve seen woman from all backgrounds get suckered, fooled and flat out taken against their will. She is no different from them.”

“I didn’t mean because she got mixed up with Santorini.” Josh sat back down.

What kind of man did he think I was? Maybe he didn’t know me at all. Hell, he was the typically impulsive one. I was the calculated one, but we’d seemed to switch roles regarding Rayna.

My gut told me she belonged to me. My gut was never wrong.

“All I’m saying is slow down with her.” He looked off. “You don’t know anything about her. Just because she got taken advantage of doesn’t mean she’s not looking for an opportunity.”

“And, why can’t she be an innocent girl who needs our help?” I rubbed my beard. I could feel her little lips on my skin still. “And, in doing so, I get to know her.”

“And, in doing so, you’ll spoil her rotten and expose her to your world and when she ceases to be the center of your world for a minute, she moves on to someone else and leaves you alone and devastated.”

“She’s not Mindy.” I gripped the arms of my chair. Her name felt like poison on my tongue, but Josh loved her until she left.

“I know.” Josh sighed. “It’s not what I meant. Mindy was my issue, but she fooled us all. I’m just saying slow down with Rayna. Give her a place to stay. Keep her safe while we deal with the Santorini situation and once it’s over, then let her decide for herself.”

I slumped back and rubbed my beard.

Josh was usually right, and I fucking hated it.

He chuckled at my distress. I shook my head and stood up. “Okay, I’ll slow down.”

He nodded with a smug grin on his face.

“For now.”

His smile fell.

I head back out toward the living room to grab another drink. I had all the time in the world, but I had no doubt, Rayna was mine, and she wasn’t going anywhere.

CHAPTER11

Wow!

I touch my swollen lips and ran to the bathroom. My face was flush, and my eyes all glazed over. My boobs were on the smallish side, but my nipples pebbled into hard peaks you could see through my t-shirt.

I pulled the shirt tight against me and poked my chest out. Even push-up bras didn’t work, but I could get away without a bra when I wasn’t massively turned on, like I was now. My panties were soaked. A naughty thought entered my brain. I could leave them on or leave the stickiness on my thighs in case he came back tonight. I shook my head and giggled while stripping off my clothes and I stepped into the shower.

I’d known him for a day, but I was falling for him. And, I was confident he was falling for me, too. It wasn’t because he swooped in and rescued me, either. We had a spark from the first moment we met in the lobby.

Then, I was two seconds away from being sold in a sex auction. I’d yet to fully understand how Natalie tricked me. Maybe she wasn’t in on it. Maybe she was trying to fix me up with a rich man, make my summer exciting and new. She always told me she wanted to expand my world.

I rinsed off quickly, dried and dressed into my pajamas before crawling into bed. I pulled the cover up over my head and sighed. Kyler asked about my little side, but I didn’t really identify as a little and it wasn’t a side of me, it was who I was.

My little didn’t need a Daddy, but it would be more fun. Especially with a man who knew what being a Daddy was all about.

He seemed more than eager to see all sides of me and made me feel safe to show him, but I should take it slow. Follow his lead.

I couldn’t wait for tomorrow.
