Today was the day of my baby shower and I was excited to see everyone. I was so ready to see my baby boy and hold him. Like my gender reveal, our shower was held at his parents’ house. I thought my mama would be upset, but she said she didn’t mind since she was still hands on with everything. Plus, she was happy she didn’t have to clean up behind a bunch of people.
Our theme was ‘All About The Benjamins’ since we decided to name our baby boy Benjamin. Leave it to Buck to be ghetto. The colors were green and gold, so I wore a dark green off the shoulder dress with a split. I accessorized it with gold jewelry and sandals. I wore my hair in its natural state today, so all I had to do was spray my rose water mixture on it. I picked that little gem up from Buck and it does my hair wonders.
“You rea—damn.” Buck came into the room ready to start his shit, but his words got stuck in his throat.
I admired my baby daddy in his green Chrome Hearts shirt with the ‘CHROME’ written across his chest in gold letters. His lower half was covered in a pair of light denim jeans in the same brand, adorned with gold crosses. He finished his outfit off with a pair of Celtic Jordan 1s. His hair was pulled in a ponytail while his ears, neck, teeth, and wrist were blinged out.
“What time that shit starts?” He placed a kiss on my neck, and I had to get out of his grasp or else I’d fall for his trap.
“This shit is your son’s baby shower, and we need to be leaving now,” I instructed.
“Man, Goldie. Them people will be there when we get there. Come on. Let me give my boy a twin.” He smirked as he pulled me into his body.
“Lincoln, we have to go,” I whined, damn near ready to give in. He looked down at me and sucked his teeth. I started calling him Lincoln a while ago. When he asked why, I simply told him I wanted to be different from them other hoes. They only knew Buck, and I knew both Buck and Lincoln.
Rolling his eyes like a spoiled brat, he grabbed my bag and escorted me downstairs to the truck. After securing me in my seatbelt, he placed a kiss on my lips before rounding the truck and pulling off.

His parent’s great room was transformed into a small venue for my baby shower. The decorators did a good job of bringing our vision to life. There was a green and gold balloon arch that stood beside two green and gold throne chairs. The treats consisting of Rice Krispy Treats that resembled gold bars and chocolate covered Oreos that were decorated as gold coins. The cake was in the shape of a hundred-dollar bill. Everything looked so good that it brought tears to my eyes.
“Baby, what’s wrong? You’on like it?” Buck asked. “I told Mel not to get all these damn ballons.” He frowned.
“Boy, shut up.” Mel shoved him. “What’s wrong, Nic?” She consoled me.
“No-nothing. Everything is so…real. This makes it real.” I sobbed. Buck wrapped me in his arms and kissed my forehead.
“I’d be crying too, sis, if I had to put up with two of them niggas,” Stacked joked, lighten the mood.
“Jackson!” I heard his mama and Kasha call his name at the same time.
“Y’all need to quit calling me like that.” He frowned before coming to give me a hug. “You look beautiful, sis. I can’t wait ’til nephew gets here.” He kissed my temple, causing Buck to push him.
“Keep yo’ nasty ass lips off my woman, nigga.” He fussed.
“Lincoln,” his mama chastised.
“Ma, I ain’t do nothing.” He threw his hands up.
After I cleaned up, I came back out and joined my guests. It was basically the same crowd from the gender reveal, and I was completely fine with that. Our baby boy was beyond blessed to be showered with so many gifts. We received so many gifts; Buck had our close family follow us to take the things back home.
“Where are you going?” I asked. I noticed we weren’t going downtown. Instead, we were headed to the other side of Cannon Hills.
“Just sit back and ride.” He smiled.
About fifteen minutes later, we pulled up to a house that was just as big as his parents’ house.
“Where are we? Whose house is this?” I asked once he turned the car off. “Lincoln?” He got out without answering me.
“Come on.” He held his hand out to help me down. When I got out, I noticed our family was here. “What’s going on?” I asked again.
“Man, bring yo’ nosy ass on.” He grabbed my hand and led me up the steps before he pressed a few buttons on a keypad and opened the door. He stepped to the side and allowed me to go inside. What I saw made me stop in my tracks. Off to the side in front of an immense bay window was a stand that held an arrangement of white roses that were on each side of some illuminated letters that spelled out ‘Marry Me’. When I turned around, Buck was kneeling in front of me with the most beautiful ring I have ever seen.
“I ain’t gone hold you. I knew from the moment I saw you sitting at my bar that I wanted you, but I was scared. I went through that love shit before and it scarred me. Then you came along with that gold hair, those sexy ass eyes, and that fat a—”
“Lincoln!” His mama called out.
