“Do you have my money?” I asked.

“No, I—,”

I didn’t even let him finish before I put a bullet between his eyes while Stacks took out the two men that were with him.

“Meeting adjourned,” I announced.

“You seem a little uptight, son. Everything okay?”

My pops was very observant. Even though I was known for my irrational behavior, some shit was just out the ordinary for me, and killing a client in the middle of the day in our main office was one.

“Yeah, I’m straight,” I lied.

“Nigga, got baby mama problems,” Stacks blabbed. I wanted to kill this nigga next for running his fuckin’ mouth so much.

“What is he talking about, Buck?”

Taking a deep breath, I told my pops everything that has been going on and how I was feeling about it. It felt good to get that shit off my chest, but I still didn’t know how to come to terms with this shit.

“So, what do you plan on doing with this young lady? If this is your child, you will do what’s right and take care of them. Both of them. I didn’t raise no bitch niggas,” he spoke.

“I’on know, Pop. I haven’t really talked to her about it. I tried today, but it sounded like she wanted to get rid of it and I went off,” I explained.

“You can’t be going off on her like that, son. She’s emotional and most likely scared. You need to talk to her, not at her. The two of you need to come up with a plan so that you can be prepared for your child.”

I heard what my pops was saying, and it made sense. I just didn’t want to be the nigga it made sense to.

“Clean-up is on the way,” Stacks informed.

My pops nodded, and I stuck around until cleanup was done before I left. I needed to go talk to my mama. I know she was gone beat my ass, but I needed her sound advice before I made my next move.

Just like I predicted, my mama tried to knock my head off my shoulders after I told her about the situation I was currently in with Goldie. She wasn’t happy at all, but she didn’t turn her back on me either.

“Lincoln, you need to have a civilized conversation with this young lady. You can’t go barking orders like you run everything. Did you ever think that she’s feeling the same way that you are?”

Listening to my mom put things into perspective made more sense to me. I knew all I had to do was come and talk to my favorite girl and everything would be okay.

“So, what do you think I should do?” I asked.

“You can start by getting to know her. She may work for you, but you know nothing outside of that. How do you expect to raise a child together when you know nothing about her? You need to be able to know that you can trust her to be the mother of your child, as well as trust her enough to be a part of your life.”

Nodding in agreement, I let my mama know I understood what she was saying.

“Thanks, Ma. I knew you would get ya boy straight.” I kissed her temple.

“Mhm. My boy better bring this girl here so I can see who you went out and procreated with,” she sassed.

“It might not even be my baby, though.” I smirked.

“That could be true too, but I still want to meet her,” she insisted.

“I got you, Ma.”

I sat with my mama until my pops brought his perverted ass home and was all in her space. I had to go anyway. I had a lot of shit to do before I talked to Goldie again. Hopefully, this conversation will go better than the last.
