“Didn’t you fuck her?”
“You know I did.”
“Aight then. That’s yo’ baby mama, nigga.” This nigga had the nerve to have a smirk on his face that I was seconds from knocking off.
“I didn’t fuck her raw,” I insisted.
“Well, the condom must’ve broken. You ain’t pay attention to that shit?”
I tried hard to think back, and I couldn’t remember that detail.
“Fuck!” I cursed, clearly pissed off at the situation.
I never thought the day would come when I regretted one of my one-night stands…. until now.

Chapter Eight
Nicari
Iwasn’tsurprisedwhenBuckleft me standing in the bathroom looking crazy. Hell, I felt the same way that he did, if not worse. I was stuck with a baby daddy that was a fuckin’ nutcase. To make matters worse, he left me in his condo, and it took me all of twenty minutes to realize that he really left. After my revelation, I called Mel and asked her to come by and pick me. I wasn’t about to be sitting in this man’s house looking crazy.
“So, what are you going to do?” Mel asked as we sat in her living room. Once we got here, I went straight into the bathroom to take a shower. By the time I got out, she had an order of wings and fries waiting for me.
“I don’t know.” I shrugged as I bit into the lemon-pepper flavored wing. “What am I gone do with a baby, Mel? I still stay home with Mama. I make decent money at the bar, but it’s not enough to take care of me and a baby. I don’t even have a car,” I declared. Just saying those things out loud was enough to make a decision.
“So, what you saying? You gone get rid of it?” she asked.
I shrugged. “I’on know. It’s not like my baby’s daddy is the picture-perfect person.”
“Yet that didn’t stop you from fuckin’ him.” She smirked.
“That nigga trapped me.” We shared a laugh.
I don’t know what kind of games or life lessons the Universe was trying to teach me, but damn. A whole baby?
“Before you make any final decisions, I think you should talk to him first. You told him about the baby, so it’s only fair that y’all decide together,” she suggested.
I nodded my head in agreement because she was right. I just hope I didn’t have to chop this nigga in the throat in the process.
I stayed up half of the night talking to Mel. She assured me she would support whatever decision I made and be there through it all. I know she was telling me she would help me in whatever way that she could, but that wasn’t her responsibility. If I had to, I would take care of my baby on my own.

a few days later…
I was finally going back to work after a few days. I hadn’t seen or talked to Buck since I told him I was pregnant. I didn’t have his number, but I knew if he had my address, he had my phone number. Once I was done getting myself together, I grabbed my things and headed outside to meet my rideshare. I closed my eyes to mentally prepare to see Buck again after the pregnancy announcement. I know he probably will be there since the games are still going on.
When I pulled up, the parking lot was packed as usual, and I was grateful. I damn sure could use all the tips I could get on top of my regular pay. It was a blessing that Buck didn’t pay us minimum wage. I’d be able to move out sooner than I expected because I definitely need the space.
Going inside, I headed straight to the back to put my things away. On the way out, I ran into Kasha. She was pretty cool, and we got along.
“Hey, Nic,” she greeted. “Buck wanted me to tell you to come to his office when you got in,” she revealed. Nodding, I went in the direction of Buck’s office and knocked on the door.
“Come in!” he yelled from the opposite end of the door.
Walking in, my eyes roamed his office before they landed on him sitting behind his desk. He had his locs pulled back out of his face. The scar that he had under his right eye took nothing from his appearance. If anything, it made him look sexier.
