“Harley! Get off the fucking dinosaur! Where did you even find one of those?!”

He may be a medium, but I still thought he was a little insane.

“She’s wearing a fucking cowboy hat! Where the fuck did you get it?!”

CHAPTER 27

Jacinth

I wokewith a smile and stretched languidly in the soft grass. I felt a little sore, but loved the fact I had a body to experience these sensations in. Orion had worn me out. Seriously, it had been amazing, and I wondered if he would keep the bodysuit and wear it again for me.

I had known he would be something to see if I scratched the surface on Mister Play-by-the-rules.

So worth it.

I rolled onto my side and realized I was alone. Sitting up, I knocked over the purple dildo, which had apparently been strategically placed as a calling card.

The dick will return.

My dick is still erect?

I wanna glitter all over your... ok, whatever. I was sure he meant it as a way of saying he was coming back.

“Get some clothes on, you hussy. I can see your cunny!”

“I’ll show you cunny, you jealous hag.”

Stupid Gladys.

A shower of dead flowers drove me toward my clothing.

“I’m putting this on because I choose to. Not because you told me to. By the way, did you see the beautiful bracelet I got from one of my three mates?”

Gladys flipped her hands up in an obscene gesture and I cackled in delight at having won the tournament. So much fun. Actually, I was surprised Harley wasn’t around. Yeah, she generally haunted Niko’s ass, but she had been bonding with the old sea witch of late. The friendship had been cute. Like, the dictionary definition of cute—interesting yet ugly. True story. Look it up.

Anyway, I had just tucked Orion’s amulet into the collar of my good old floral shirt when an odd hush fell over the cemetery.

“Girl. You need to hide yourself. Right now, go!”

I had never heard Gladys talk like that before.

I tucked myself in between the close-growing trees at the edge of the clearing just in time to see Father Dare stride into view. He looked around, and I wondered what he was searching for.

Had he lost something? Someone?

He planted his feet, grasped the amulet around his own neck and stilled.

Eyes closed, he began to hum. I didn’t like the vibrations; they made me feel weird, and Orion’s amulet tucked against my chest heated. His eyes flew open and focused on Gladys where she stood, ready for battle, beside her headstone.

My head snapped back to Father Dare, and I noticed his pupils had dilated so much, there was no color. No white. All black, like demons on television.

“I see you,” he hissed at Gladys and advanced on her one deliberate step at a time.

Suddenly, markings on a tree near me flared with a blinding blue light, and his steps faltered.

Had Gladys booby-trapped our clearing?

Okay, that was kinda badass.
