Yeah, Jace, let the boys come to you. Play it cool and leave them hanging. My libido was having none of that, and she seemed to have forgotten we didn’t have a body. She also conveniently blanked on having spent most of the previous day and night sexing up his brother.

Ok... so that cooled things out a little.

“Does it worry you that I was with Niko earlier?”

Please say no, please say no.

I had already agreed to Niko and me becoming a thing, but I found Skyler equally irresistible.

There was still a part of me that worried this was all some kind of love spell that would wear off and I would turn into a proper ghost, haunting places and moaning about orgasms lost.

Skyler shook his head and I just barely refrained from leaping to my feet and doing a happy dance. Fine, I might have done a seated version. Sue me.

He grinned. “I know this thing is between us all. Seriously, all three of us need you. I wouldn’t deny my brothers this. Now I’m not saying I won’t get jealous, but, yeah. As far as I can be, I’m cool.”

“That... makes me surprisingly happy. I don’t know how it’ll work, y’know, with me being dead and all, but I’d like it to. Although, if you tell Orion and make it easy on him, I will still castrate you and make you buy a strap-on to service me with.”

“I would deserve that.”

Seriously, could this guy be any more perfect?

“You know who I think you are?” I asked quietly after the silence had stretched a little while. We lay on the ground and idly watched the clouds passing overhead. Like white balls of cotton, before I used them to take off my nail polish.

He rolled his head in my direction, not bothering to speak, just watching in that intense way of his.

“A loyal brother who places the needs of others above his own. You know what you like and dislike, but some trauma, or accumulation of trauma, has left your confidence shot and you feel vulnerable when the spotlight is on you. You’re caring and kind, funny and quick-witted. And you would make one hell of a sexual dominant. Seriously, you almost made me combust with your little story time earlier.”

Skyler’s grin grew with each word, and he was chuckling before I finished.

“That was a nice description, Jace. I particularly would like to further explore this sexual dominant trait you were describing. But all told, there is one really easy way to describe me.”

“What’s that?”

“Yours.”

CHAPTER 20

Orion

“I owe you an apology.”

Following my enlightening chat with Dahlia, I wandered the streets of Silver Springs for a while. I had not yet taken the time to really see the little town, and I realized there was actually a lot to take in. Inevitably, I ended up outside Jewels Cafe. It brought my thoughts full circle back, not only to Jacinth but also to Skyler and Niko.

I had been an ass.

A truly self-centered dick.

Discovering my ignorance about Niko’s abilities had me wondering what else the two of them had been attempting to shelter me from while I was too full of self-importance to notice. I needed to make it right. So I headed home with the plan to seek out my brothers and have an honest talk.

I was opening the front door when I noticed Niko seated at the kitchen bench. He registered my presence and blurted his apology before I could even open my mouth.

As confused as I was, the first thing I realized was that he was sober.

Stone. Cold. Sober.

“What could you possibly have to apologize for?” I asked, moving into the room to sit beside him.

“I have resented you for years. I hid from my abilities and complained that you got to be the all-powerful necromancer while I was just the lackey to any ghost who wanted your attention. The D.U.F.F. to your popular kid.
