I grabbed his wrist to force him further, only to have my hand tapped lightly as he reminded me to continue paddling.

“Tase, if you don’t start fucking me with your fingers, I’m swimming back to Ren to make him do it for you.”

Even my succubus wasn’t playing around, no corny pick-up lines in sight. She had been worked up enough, thank you very much, and now that she knew what he was withholding, she wouldn’t be happy again until she had come at least three times.

“Three times, coming right up, beautiful.”

Ah shit, I had said that out loud. Tase bit down on the curve of my shoulder and pushed two fingers inside me, achingly slowly. In and out, until I wanted to scream at him.

“Keep paddling.” I could hear the smile in his voice, the bastard, he was enjoying my torment.

“Quit playing and make me come already.”

“Such a bossy girl.” He crooked his fingers and worked my clit with his thumb until I was a trembling mess, and we were gliding along under the pull of the tide alone.

“You said three, right?” Tase asked smugly a few minutes later when I regained consciousness from the consecutive orgasms I had just screamed through. I turned with a withering glare to find him grinning like a cat as he licked his fingers clean. Two could play at this game.

I threw my oar at him and flipped to my hands and knees, facing him. Alarm took over his face as the kayak rocked precariously under us.

“Babe, I timed that so we would still be alone. The others...”

“Well then, you’re just going to have to come quickly now, aren’t you?” I folded the waistband of his shorts down to reveal the erection I had felt digging into my spine.

“Don’t forget to keep paddling,” I breathed over his sensitive skin before fisting his base and sucking on the tip. He let out a deep moan, one I echoed as the salty taste of pre-cum danced over my tongue. He tasted different from Ren, lighter, more like the sea. Still delicious, though.

Tase’s hands ran gently over my hair, shoulders, back, encouraging me and checking in on me all at once. Who would have guessed about this side of my kelpie?

Tase’s stomach muscles contracted and he tapped my head in warning as the splash of paddles sounded not too far off. I sucked harder, determined to finish him, and was rewarded with a shuddering breath from above me as his seed hit the back of my throat. I swallowed him quickly and went to turn around. Unfortunately, Mr. Water Control didn’t have quick reflexes, post-coitus. We overbalanced and fell in with a splash.

I surfaced to the sound of Newt’s peals of laughter as he screamed loud enough for the entire town to hear. “Uncle Tase lost his shorts! I can see his willy!”

Chapter Twenty-Nine

Ren

If I can’t have you, I’ll take the boy.

I had never understood her fascination with me. You would think one lousy one-night stand — one of the biggest mistakes of my life — couldn’t possibly keep causing me grief, but she does. I had been dwelling on her words all day, barely present at our first family outing, and it was all her fault. I had reached a decision, though.

She could go fuck herself.

She had given up any rights to motherhood when she left Newt on my doorstep three years ago. If only she had done it sooner. Hearing him laugh at his uncle’s misfortune this afternoon finally pulled me out of my funk. I mean, if we had been even a second earlier, and I had to explain what Tase and Lex had clearly been up to, I may have had to crack Tase’s head open. But since I was still father to an innocent five-year-old, I was willing to let bygones be bygones, or whatever that saying was.

Once we made it back to town, we parted ways with Garnet, thanking her for an amazing day, and headed to Nessie’s Pub for dinner and the next surprise.

“Not a Vampire?!” Lex squealed as she and Colbie started in on some weird shaking thing I hoped wasn’t a seizure. Scratch that, they seemed to be dancing. How was a succubus so terrible at moving her body? Dion had mentioned she could move when the situation called for it, but it definitely wasn’t calling now. She did better with her animal mating rituals.

And now I was hard. Dammit.

We found a booth to the side of the stage and waved at Ramsay as he went through sound check. Nessie’s pub was closed to the public all night for the exclusive VIP set ‘Not a Vampire’ was playing. I didn’t know all the details, but when Ramsay got the gig, he offered Dion tickets to come and cheer him on. Tonight could open a lot of doors for him, and I knew Dion was thrilled to be able to support a family member the way he wished he had been supported growing up.

The music started, and Lex and Colbie danced like crazy while the three of us glowered at anyone who got too close. It didn’t escape my notice that Dash was also showing an inordinate amount of interest in my mate’s best friend. If he fucked with her, he was going to regret it.

Despite her blackmailing me for candy, I thought of her as a sister, and I would throw down with any guy who tried to hurt her.

Ramsay killed the set. He tore up the drum kit like he owned it. I, of course, didn’t have enough understanding to know this, but Dion raved about his tempo, and the light and shade of the playing. What I could see myself was that Ramsay fit into the ensemble as though he belonged. He didn’t look like a last-minute ring in. I was proud of the guy.

Newt was asleep on Tase’s shoulder by the time things wrapped up.
