I laughed. “Hell yes, once it’s on you, it’s impossible to completely remove. They remember they’ve been Tase’d.”

“It doesn’t work if it’s already a thing for something else,” Dion said with a sigh from the front of the shop. “Being tased is when you’re hit with the taser, that device Stone uses that gives you an electric shock. Incoming, by the way.”

“Well, it is shocking when you get hit by me,” I said, with a wink for Lex. Her giggle at my terrible joke was everything.

“Cold outside, Tase? Or you just not horse enough?”

Great, Mr. Snark had finished his chapter.

“Fuck off, Levi, I’m plenty hung. Probably bigger than you.”

His brow twitched as he flipped to a new page.

“One of these days, I’m going to dog-ear one of your pages,” I grumbled.

Death. Stare.

I wasn’t too proud to admit, Levi was one person I didn’t want to make an enemy of.

“Kidding.” I held my hands up in a sign of peace as Lex huffed and pushed me toward the front door.

“That was stupid, and you know it.”

“But babe...” I indicated my insulted manhood. Sometimes it was worth risking your life for honor. Lex snorted.

“One battle at a time,” she reminded me, slapping a balloon in my hand as the first of the selkies rounded the corner and right into firing range.

The skirmish was fast but messy. I was thrilled to note that the addition of honey seemed to make the entire experience that much more unpleasant for them.

As the last sticky, glittering selkie turned tail, I grinned triumphantly and surveyed my soldiers. None of us had come out completely unharmed. The smell of fish sat heavily in the air, and a glance at Dion showed his shoes were destined for the trash.

The color was high in Lex’s cheeks, her porcelain skin showing off the blush like a sunrise over the sea. Her chest heaved with the excitement of the battle, and she smelled good enough to eat.

We walked in silence to the shoreline and I dove into the cool waters as Lex and Dion stripped down. I surfaced to the sight of my mate and my best friend, waist-deep in my loch, limned in the low light of nearby buildings. A slow, wolfish grin spread across my face as they waded nearer. They were in my element now, and I wanted to play.

“D, tell me something. How did she taste?”

Dion knew immediately where my head was at. He wrapped his arms around our girl from behind and urged her to lean back into him as he growled into her ear, “Delicious.”

Lex whimpered as her body relaxed into the water, her eyes glowing neon blue as she picked up on the sexual tension.

With one last check in to make sure Dion was completely onboard — spoiler, he was — I closed in on my meal.

Chapter Twenty-Four

Lex

I felt decadent. Weightless. The water swirled around me. Held me suspended as I leaned into Dion’s chest and watched the approach of the hungry kelpie. He slid through the water like the predator he was and disappeared beneath the surface without a ripple to show he was ever there. I stretched an arm backward to anchor myself with a hand on Dion’s neck and shivered at the chill of the night air on my nipples as the water broke around them.

Anticipation thrummed through me. Where was Tase? I moved my legs in lazy circles and startled at the sensation of something silken brushing against my calf. Dion settled me, his hold tightening slightly when I would have moved away. Next, I felt the brush of skin against the inside of my knee. A shiver of arousal worked its way up my spine as the touch became firmer, urging my knees apart.

The trust I had in Tase made it easy to let go. To float and let him do as he pleased. Strong hands slid up the backs of my thighs until they grasped my ass and pulled me against the prickle of a short beard I knew well.

“If you want him to stop, tug on his hair,” Dion murmured, sliding his fingers over my breast to tweak my nipple. My back arched in response, and I reached a hand down to hold Tase’s head more firmly against me. The pressure of his tongue and teeth drove me higher and higher, until I was writhing so hard Dion could barely hold me.

“Want more?” he asked, sounding breathless himself.

“Yes!”
