I call her again. Same thing.

After the third try, I finally get a text response, and my heart finally stops racing.

Quinn: Still out with Stella. Probably going to crash at her place since it’s across the street from the bar and then catch a ride home with them in the morning. See you tomorrow

I try to call her again, and it goes straight to voicemail. Well, thank God I have nothing planned after practice in the morning. Plenty of time to spend with Quinn, to talk to her and figure everything out.

Shooting a quick text to Miles to thank him for keeping Quinn safe and getting her home, I head back inside for a shower and to get some sleep.

CHAPTER25

QUINN

I'm not usuallyone to take Ubers, but tonight felt like a good night for one since Levi's house is just a little too far for me to want to walk after drinking.

After Miles told us that Levi had to leave, I was initially disappointed until he said it was because of his nana. I'm almost relieved I didn't have to be the one to break it to him about what happened tonight, although I almost wish I could've gone with him.

We stayed for a few more rounds before we all got tired and decided to head out for the night. They offered to bring me home since their hotel is close, but I figured an Uber was easiest.

Pulling up his driveway, I see his truck and smile, but that doesn’t last.

My heart drops as the driver rounds the corner and I see Ally's car next to Levi’s.

What the fuck?

But we keep driving, my heart racing a million miles a minute as I try to process what I’m seeing.

“Stop!” I finally spit out, not wanting them to see who’s pulling up the driveway. “Can you actually take me to a hotel in Nashville? This is a bad idea,” I tell him, forcing my eyes away from the porch where I see Levi and Ally now embracing—just a simple hug, but it kills me nonetheless.

My heart hurts. It feels like it was just stomped on, with every fear I’ve had coming true as I’m reminded that Ally had even wondered what Levi would do if she asked for him back, and I guess now I have my answer. The man who said he wanted nothing to do with Ally is now hugging her on his porch when he was supposed to be with his nana.

Was all of that a lie? Did he just bring Ally back to his house to hook up while I was distracted at the bar, not expecting me to be here to find out? Now I'm just alone with nowhere to go.

Picking up my phone, I dial the first hotel number I find.

“Hi, I was hoping you had a room available?” I say when someone at the front desk picks up the call, my Uber driver watching me in the mirror as he's waiting for confirmation.

“Perfect, I'll take it,” I say, nodding to the driver who starts backing out of the driveway at my sign. “Could you please send a bottle of white wine up? Actually…make that two.”

The lady on the other end of the line laughs, probably thinking I’m coming back with a man or something and want to celebrate. Little does she know that wine is going to be the star of my karaoke party for one as I try to drown my sorrows and heartbreak.

Guess we don’t have to have that talk after all.

CHAPTER26

LEVI

Coffee.

That’s the first thing I smell as I wake up, and the sound of my coffee pot running tells me it’s seven in the morning, time to get up, get ready, and get my ass to practice. Reaching for my phone on the end table, my arm immediately falls to the ground as if the table wasn’t there.

Opening my eyes, to find my phone, the first thing I see is bright light, and I’m damn near blinded by the glowing orb in the sky.

What the fuck. Blackout curtains are supposed to avoid this.

That’s when I realize there are no black out curtains in here because I’m not in my room. I’m on my couch. I must’ve fallen asleep waiting for Quinn to get home. My mind was racing after the day I’d had, and I just wanted to decompress and talk to her—especially to tell her about my conversation with her sister.

Sitting up, I look around, trying to wake up and get my bearings. It’s not like me to fall asleep on the couch, at least not at bedtime. I think yesterday there was just a myriad of contradicting emotions that sent my brain into a tailspin, leaving it a fucked-up mess.
