"I'll say it eventually," he said. "And when I do, it's going to be amazing."
"Oh really?"
"Yeah, you should prepare yourself."
"Will I cry?"
"Probably."
"Okay, I'll have the tissues ready."
"You do that."
He smiled at me in wonder.
"I love you," I repeated.
"Okay, now you're just showing off."
"I—"
Before I could finish,Felix stole my breath with a kiss that I felt down to my bones. It turned out there was more than one way to say I love you. Even if Felix never found the words, it was enough to know that he felt it. He wanted to say it.
My heart took flight as we kissed.
I loved him, and he loved me.
And it was more than enough.
CHAPTER 22
"How did you get backstage again?" I asked.
"We know one of the musicians," Freya quipped, sending me a bright smile.
I rolled my eyes. "I'm not the one who gave you those passes."
"Maybe I wasn't talking about you."
"Speaking of, whydidn'tyou get them for us?" Scarlett asked.
"Yeah," Viola added, "we're your cousins. I think that means wedeserve a few perks."
"Plus, we opened for HERS that time."
"True! We should definitely get VIP passes to all the shows."
They each nodded, and I bit back a smile.
"I'll be sure to mention that to Taylor," I said.
"Who's she again?" Viola asked.
"HERS's band manager."
She nodded as if I could actually get those passes. But HERS was even more popular now than when we started the tour.I didn't want to burst anyone's bubble. However,I felt compelled to bring them back to reality.
"Seriously though, I'm just a small part of this," I said. "I don't have that much pull."
